Splash Mountain Has OFFICIALLY Died in Magic Kingdom

Disney World is no stranger to change.

Magic Kingdom

Splash Mountain has officially been gone from Magic Kingdom for a while now, and we’ve still seen the occasional references to the ride in the parks. A bit of merch here, a sign over there — but one thing has remained steadfast, until now.

The day has finally come — the last relic of Splash Mountain has disappeared from Magic Kingdom! Up until now, there was a Splash Mountain pressed penny machine near the ride, and we had been keeping an eye on it to see when it would finally be removed.

Well, friends, that day has finally come. The Splash Mountain pressed penny machine is officially gone.

It’s GONE

There was also a pressed penny machine featuring Splash Mountain characters over at Country Bear Jamboree as well, and while that machine is still there — the Splash Mountain pressed pennies are not.

We’re hopeful that the Splash Mountain machine will just be replaced with a new Tiana’s Bayou Adventure machine and pressed pennies, but for now, we’ll have to wait and see.

We’ve been keeping up with the Tiana’s Bayou Adventure transformation, and we recently spotted a permit related to work at the future home of the ride. We’ve seen quite a few of these recently, but this is a newer one for the “fab” (which we expect means fabrication) and “install of aluminum & FRP items.” It looks like FRP items could be fiberglass-reinforced plastics.

The ride will officially open in 2024
