Disney World is SO much fun, but we have to remember that sometimes bad things still happen.
Bad weather can come in and cause issues like flooding. That same bad weather can also close rides. Rides can close due to technical or other problems. Sometimes rides are just missing something important — and that’s what’s happened to a ride in EPCOT recently.
We decided to join our favorite band of Marvel misfits recently and hopped on Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. Now, if you’ve been on this ride, you’ll know there’s a pretty elaborate pre-show where you’re welcomed to the Wonders of Xandar Pavilion and then get thrown directly into a story that stars the Guardians of the Galaxy. You’ll even get teleported to another planet to help the Guardians save the day.
Well, if you were looking forward to seeing that, you might be out of luck. When we rode, the pre-show was not available. Instead, you just walked through the queue and then into the teleportation chamber, where the walls are already up (so not teleporting effects either). Then you just walk onto the ride.
We spoke to a Cast Member and learned the pre-show has been off and on over the past few days. We were also told that the Cast Members have not yet been told when the pre-show might be fixed. So if you’re looking to ride this attraction soon, keep in mind that the show BEFORE the attraction might not be working.
If the pre-show is something that you want to experience when you ride Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, we’d also recommend not purchasing an Individual Lightning Lane option until the experience has been fixed.

Ughhhhhh. Disney maintenance is garbage. Eisner ruined it and they still haven’t restored it. They don’t respect their Imagineers’ vision at all once a ride show breaks. It makes me mad. The so-called pre show is what makes this attraction. If Disney doesn’t fix it—and they probably won’t based on their history, this attraction will degrade into just another rollercoaster. Ugh.
I wish Disney would add AA characters to the attraction as originally envisioned.
