Popular Rides Suddenly CLOSE in Disney World

If you’re hoping to catch a dino this morning, you might be out of luck!

Disney World rides can unexpectedly and suddenly CLOSE in the parks, sometimes due to technical issues or other problems. Just a few days, we saw Dinosaur CLOSE in Animal Kingdom…and now it’s happened again.

At around 9:30AM ET on March 30th, 2023, we saw that Dinosaur was listed as “temporarily closed” in the My Disney Experience app. The popular ride’s operating hours were listed as 8AM to 8PM, so it appears this isn’t just a “late start” but rather a temporary closure.

Just a few minutes later, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure was also listed as “temporarily closed” in EPCOT (via the app).

UPDATE: Later this morning Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind was also listed as “temporarily closed.”

Second Update: Things only got WORSE as the morning went on. By 10:24AM ET, we saw that Dinosaur, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover, and TRON Lightcycle / Run (currently in soft opening) were ALL closed.

Third update: As of 11:42AM ET, only Dinosaur remained closed.

Sometimes these closures are short, while other times they can go on for a much longer period. It just depends on what has caused the closure and what it’ll take to get things back up.

Here’s what to do if a ride suddenly closes during your trip:

• Check the My Disney Experience app constantly for updates (if a wait time is displayed, you’ll know the ride has likely reopened!)
• Ask Cast Members outside of the attraction if they know what has happened and if they have a better idea about when the ride might reopen
• Come up with a plan “B” in case one of your must-do rides unexpectedly closes
• Mentally prepare little ones for potential closures by discussing the possibility at home
• Use that closure time to knock other things off of your list, take a break, grab a snack, or otherwise utilize your time in the park!
