Disney World is going through some major changes that will change your next visit to the parks.
We’ve been keeping track of all the changes in the park like the return of character dining, nighttime shows like Fantasmic! getting upgrades, and all of the construction updates. But there are brand new rides that we’ve seen in 2022 and that are coming in 2023, so let’s take a look at them!
2022
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind
Starting with this year, EPCOT got the new Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind coaster! The ride opened on May 27th, 2022 after having previews for several guests.
This is a reverse launch coaster that takes you along with the Guardians of the Galaxy. Also similarly to Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, you can get a different song each time you ride!

If you’re hoping to ride on your next trip, you’ll need to grab a Boarding Pass or buy an Individual Lightning Lane. After the Genie+ price increase, we’ve seen an Individual Lightning Lane priced around $14-$15.
You have two chances to grab a Boarding Pass — one at 7AM and one at 1PM. We’ve got plenty of tips for how to snag a Boarding Pass, so be sure to check that out below!

2023
TRON Lightcycle Run
Magic Kingdom is also getting a brand new coaster — TRON Lightcycle Run! This ride started construction back in 2018 which also caused the Walt Disney World Railroad to close shortly after. The railroad remains closed but it could reopen soon!
TRON Lightcycle Run will officially open in spring of 2023. Disney has not revealed an exact date just yet, but the opening it coming up!
The ride will take place after the events of TRON: Legacy. Once you enter the queue, you’ll get digitized and enter the virtual world of the ride. When you’re inside the grid, you’ll join Team Blue and enter a high-speed competition against Team Orange. Now we can see why the ride lights up bright blue at night! The first team to race through 8 energy gates wins.
