WARNING: There Was a LOT of Disney News This Week…

Well, that was a WEEK. Our heads are still swimming with everything that came out of the D23 Expo panels.

We heard about potential new lands coming to Disney Parks, got new trailers for upcoming TV shows and movies, and more. So in case it all seems a bit overwhelming, we’re breaking down the five biggest stories of the week.

Disney World Attraction Updates

Let’s start with some updates on Disney World attractions. This week, we learned that KiteTails at Disney’s Animal Kingdom will soon close.  If you’re looking to catch the show, its last performance will be on September 30th.

However, we did see the Walt Disney World Railroad testing recently — we’re hoping this is a sign that it will reopen soon! It’s been closed since construction began on the TRON Lightcycle Run attraction.

Disney World Food Updates

It’s official — we now have a FULL list of all the Halloween treats coming to Disney World. There’s a lot, so start picking out your must-trys now!

Don’t forget that a ton of new snacks are also going to be available from September 15th through October 15th for Hispanic Heritage Month. So there’s a lot of NEW food to try in Disney World right now!

D23 Expo: Disney World Announcements

Okay, here’s where things get a little hairy because the Disney Parks panel at D23 Expo dropped a lot of huge news bombshells! So we’re going to list them all out for you, so you don’t miss a single thing!

• Coco, Encanto, and a Villains-themed land could come to Magic Kingdom
• Zootopia and Moana lands are being discussed to replace Dinoland, U.S.A. in Animal Kingdom
• EPCOT will get a new nighttime spectacular (presumably to replace Harmonious) in 2023
• The Figment meet and greet at EPCOT is returning

• Tiana’s Bayou Adventure (aka the re-themed Splash Mountain) will open in late 2024 in both Disney World and Disneyland
• The Hatbox Ghost is coming to Disney World’s Haunted Mansion in 2023
• Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana will open in 2023 at EPCOT
• TRON Lightcycle Run in Magic Kingdom will open in Spring 2023
• Happily Ever After fireworks will return to Magic Kingdom in some way

But wait, because there were quite a few announcements made about the future of Disneyland, too:

• runDisney will return to Disneyland in 2024
• Two new nighttime spectaculars are coming to Disneyland: Wondrous Journeys (a new fireworks show for Disneyland Park) and World of Color One in Disney California Adventure
• The Magic Happens parade will return to Disneyland
• Porto’s Bakery is coming to Downtown Disney
• The Paradise Pier Hotel is getting re-themed into Pixar Place Hotel
• New Concept Art for the re-imagined ToonTown was released

• The Mandalorian and Grogu will start meeting guests in Disneyland in mid-November
• Avengers Campus is getting an expansion and a new ride based on the MCU multiverse
• A Tiana-themed store called Eudora’s Chic Boutique Featuring Tiana’s Gourmet Secrets will open on September 20th

D23 Expo: Movies and TV

But wait, there’s MORE. Disney also released a TON of new trailers for upcoming movies like Disenchanted, the live-action The Little Mermaid, Marvel’s Werewolf By Night, and more!
