PHOTOS: New Concept Art Revealed for Disney’s Toontown Reimagining

Disneyland Resort has brought a LOT of stuff back to the parks over the past several months.

Sleeping Beauty Castle in Disneyland

We’ve seen meet and greets return, a bunch of restaurants reopen, a special parade is back, and even more entertainment offerings are now available. But, while a bunch of things were opening back up, something actually closed down — Mickey’s Toontown. It’s been shut down for construction for months, and now, we have an update on what’s going on in the land!

At the D23 Expo, Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products, Josh D’Amaro, gave details on what is happening with the land. As part of the Boundless Future: Disney Parks, Experiences and Products panel, D’Amaro shared new looks at what is coming to the land!

We knew that Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway would be coming to the land, and the panel provided a new look at it. The new art shows that, although we have the same ride in Walt Disney World, this one will have its differences! We got a few looks at the queue that will be coming for the ride, which looks drastically different than the version at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

We saw Imagineers break ground on the project back in April of 2022, and the project should be completed sometime in early 2023.
