UPDATE on the MAJOR Reimagination of Mickey’s Toontown in Disneyland!

When Walt Disney built Disneyland, he believed that it would never be completed — there was always something that could be added, changed, or refurbished.

Disneyland is always changing

Imagineers have continued to adhere to this philosophy since, and Disneyland has received many updates and changes over its 67-year lifespan. Even over the past several years, we’ve seen new lands emerge like Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and Avengers Campus. And, now the work has begun on an existing land that is getting a complete makeover!

Disneyland first reported that it had BIG plans for Mickey’s ToonTown back in November 2021 and it wasn’t long after that construction walls went up. Guests haven’t been able to enter the land for almost two months now, and today Disneyland shared a photo from the official groundbreaking of the land meaning that construction is now underway!

Once open, Mickey’s ToonTown will look completely different with a new water play areas for kids, a huge new park, and a brand new attraction — Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway!

ToonTown is currently closed

At the center of it all will be CenTOONial Park, which will have a fountain with water tables and a “dreaming tree” playset inspired by the tree Walt Disney used to sit under as a young boy to daydream in his hometown of Marceline, MO.

The reimagination is set to be completed sometime in 2023, though an exact opening date hasn’t been announced just yet. Of course, we’ll be keeping an eye out for updates, so be sure to stay tuned to AllEars for the latest!
