Over the past year, Disneyland has made quite a few changes to some popular attractions throughout the parks.
For example, Disney reimagined Jungle Cruise with a new storyline and scenes, overhauled what was once known as Snow White’s Scary Adventure, and soon Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin will also be getting an update. But, that’s not all! Disneyland has announced that they have more changes planned for one of the most classic parts of the park!
Today, Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products, Josh D’Amaro, shared that Disneyland will be closing Mickey’s Toontown in March 2022 to make way for a completely reimagined land featuring new attractions, activities, and entertainment.
The new land is set to debut in early 2023 and will be a larger space for both “spontaneous family play and parental relaxation.”
But, what exactly will that entail? Well, the land will feature a ride that Disney World fans might recognize — Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway!
Plus, the center of the new Mickey’s Toontown will be known as CenTOONial Park and will include a fountain with water tables for kids to play in and a “dreaming tree” playset that is inspired by the tree that Walt Disney would daydream under when he was young in his hometown.
And, Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Goofy, Donald Duck, and other fan-favorite characters aren’t going anywhere either! They’ll still be found in Toontown once it reopens. Don’t worry because those iconic Toontown hills are also sticking around.
Disney hasn’t shared an exact date that Mickey’s Toontown will close in March 2022 or an exact date when the newly refurbished land will reopen in early 2023, but we’ll keep an eye out for updates!
