A NEW Restaurant, HUGE MagicBand+ Update, and More Disney News You Missed

July will be over before we know it, but it feels like it’s been a long month because SO much has happened.

Who’s ready for MagicBand+?

We’ve had some big news this week, too, including details about an exclusive dining deal in Disney World, an update on the Toy Story Land gift shop, and comments made by Bob Iger on choosing Bob Chapek as his successor as Disney’s CEO. If you missed some of Disney’s biggest news stories this week, never fear! We’ve got a list of the major updates so that you can get caught up.

MagicBand+ Release Date

Although we got our hands on a MagicBand+ early in Disney World when a few were released accidentally, the new MagicBand+ hasn’t officially been released yet. BUT we now know when it WILL be released. Guests will be able to use MagicBand+ in Disney World beginning on July 27th. The new bands come with a lot of cool interactive features, including special effects and lighting during nighttime shows at Disney World PLUS special games that can be tracked on the Play Disney Parks app.

Car Locator Service Is Live

We can’t believe it took Disney World this long to get a Car Locator feature in the My Disney Experience app, but we learned that the feature would arrive soon, and it’s finally here!

Here’s how it works: when you park in a parking lot, you’ll see the option come up in the app with a “Save Vehicle Location” button. Click on that, and the app will use your phone’s BlueTooth and location services to remember where you’re parked and help you get back to that exact location at the end of the day. You can also manually enter your parking location.

The service will also be eventually rolled out to Disneyland, although Disney has not said when.

New Restaurant Opening at Disney’s BoardWalk Soon

Disney previously announced that BoardWalk Bakery at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn would soon be closed down to become a new sandwich shop. Now we have an opening timeline for the new restaurant, called the BoardWalk Deli: late summer 2022.

We also have some new details. Disney describes the deli as a “Northeastern-style deli with a brand-new menu that will include fresh deli sandwiches, fresh-baked breads, and a selection of bakery items.” Guests can expect the deli to serve house-made bagels, an “overstuffed warm pastrami Reuben,” and hand-made cannolis.
