CHANGE Made to Disney Vacation Club Point Borrowing Policy

If you’re a frequent Disney World visitor, you may have considered buying into Disney Vacation Club (DVC).

Disney Vacation Club

DVC is a vacation ownership program (kind of like a timeshare) that lets owners buy into a point system that can be used toward DVC rooms at select Disney World hotels and other Disney hotels or experiences! Things have been a little different for DVC Members since Disney World closed and reopened in 2020, but now one policy is going back to normal!

Disney Vacation Club Members purchase a set number of “vacation points” when buying into the program. Owners then use their allocated points to book Disney World rooms (or other select rooms) at eligible DVC resorts. For example, you might need to use 109 points (just an example) for a week in a studio at Old Key West Resort for a certain period of time.

DVC points are allocated annually and owners have the option to bank unused points or borrow points from the next year in order to meet their needs. This is useful for people who don’t have a trip planned for a while or who need extra points for a big vacation one year.

In 2020, Disney adjusted the DVC policy that previously allowed owners to borrow up to 100% of their points for the next year. Instead, owners were restricted to borrowing only 50% of their available points from the upcoming use year.

Now, this is changing, and Disney is restoring their previous policy!

According to a notice sent from Disney Vacation Club, effective July 12th, 2022, DVC Members can once again borrow 100% of their points from their next use year to this use year. This could come in handy if you’re interested in using your points on higher point value locations like the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, which starts at 295 points per person!

A lot is changing for DVC Members in Disney World right now, with updated 2-bedroom villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, and construction underway for new DVC villas at Disney’s Polynesian Resort.

  1. I am so glad to hear this is happening. Disney is what we use for all our vacations including some stay vacations through World Collections. Thank you Disney for restoring this after all we all have had to adjust because of Covid . There is no other travel program that can beat Disneys value, customer service, and making their guests top priority.
