Disney is Changing the Way You Watch KiteTails!

Disney KiteTails was a new daytime show that debuted in Disney’s Animal Kingdom in 2021 for Disney World’s 50th anniversary, and it involves, well, kites!

Although there have been a few kite fails with this new show, it’s a fun way to take a break during a busy day in Animal Kingdom, and some of the kites are up to 30 feet long! Although the show has only been around since October 2021, things are changing soon, and here’s how!

Since the show debuted, Disney KiteTails has included several 10-minute performances per day at the Discovery River Theater in Animal Kingdom, and you could catch a show themed after either The Jungle Book or The Lion King. Character props are also involved, like this one of Crush from Finding Nemo!

Today Disney announced that they will be “shifting the focus of the show so that guests will be able to experience Disney KiteTails from anywhere around the Discovery River Lagoon,” and there will also be more frequent showtimes with shorter performance times.

Hey, Baloo!

Also, between KiteTails showtimes, Disney character flotillas will set sail on the Discovery River, featuring characters such as Mickey and friends, Timon, Rafiki, Pocahontas, and more, as well as some 50th anniversary EARidescent details. The character flotillas are not new to Animal Kingdom, but we’ll have to see whether there are any changes with these performances.

Disney’s announcement noted that these changes will be “just in time for summer fun,” so we’ll be watching closely for an official date or any changes in Animal Kingdom! Keep reading AllEars for more Disney news!

  1. Kite tails is too long as it exists now; people want to see the animal kites with appropriate recognizable music accompanying those kites. I have observed many guests just pausing on the bridge to watch. They usually are excited and tell their children in strollers to look! The children are underwhelmed, although the parents seem excited. This Animal Kingdom theater should be renamed the Kiss Of Death .Every thing Disney tries fails. They try too hard. Give us more animal shaped kites with upbeat music. Encanto music. Moana music. Not tired old songs from jungle book.
