When Your Favorite Ride is CLOSING In Disney World

If you’re planning a trip to Disney World, there are a few things you’ll need to know in advance.

Someday, the train will ride again!

Of course you need to know where you’re staying, which park you’re visiting on which days (so you can make  Park Pass reservations), and other key planning details. You’ll also need to know if your favorite ride will be closed while you’re there.

Nothing can suck the joy out of a day at Disney World like not being able to experience your favorite attraction.

We’ve put together a list of what rides are closing (or already closed) so you can plan your trip accordingly!

Magic Kingdom

At Magic Kingdom, the Walt Disney World Railroad has been closed for over a year due to construction on the new TRON: Lightcycle Run attraction. And although construction is moving along with the TRON ride, we still do not have a reopening date for the railroad.

However, we did recently get an update that one of the trains has been refurbished during its downtime. And it looks like more work on the train is underway, so we’ll see.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios

One of our favorite shows at Hollywood Studios, Fantasmic! still has not returned since Disney World’s reopening. However, Disney did recently reveal that the show would be returning, although we do not have an exact opening date. So for now, Fantasmic! is still closed (and getting some work done on it in the  meantime).

Voyage of the Little Mermaid is another show at Hollywood Studios that hasn’t been available since the reopening. And as of yet, we do not have any updates for the attraction.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Over at Animal Kingdom, Expedition Everest is set to close for a lengthy refurbishment from January 4, 2022, through mid-April 2022. So if that’s on your list of must-do rides for your next Disney World trip, keep that in mind.

The Finding Nemo show at Animal Kingdom did not return when the park reopened, however, we now know that the show is getting reimagined with a new storyline that picks up during the Finding Dory movie. The new show will be called Finding Nemo: The Big Blue…and Beyond. The new show will debut in 2022, but for now, it’s closed.

Other

So what other rides or attractions will be closed? First, the Skyliner route from Disney’s Riviera Resort to EPCOT will be closed from January 23rd through January 28th, 2022.

Those are all the closings we currently know about at Disney World, but we’ll keep an eye on refurbishments and closings so you can stay up to date, so be sure to check back with us often.
