What You DIDN’T Know Was Carved into the Tree of Life at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

When you’re visiting Disney’s Animal Kingdom, one of the first things that you’ll stumble upon is the Tree of Life — it is the park icon after all!

And, it is more than just a great background to pose with! The Tree of Life is filled with over 300 carvings of animals that you can spot up-close by exploring the Discover Island Trail or making your way through the queue for It’s Tough To Be A Bug. And, at this year’s Destination D23 event, we learned about some animals that you may not have known were on the tree!

During the conference, a presenter shared that there are both living and extinct animals carved into the Tree of Life! But, you really have to look if you’re hoping to spot the extinct animals because they can only be found in the deadwood roots at the bottom of the tree (since they’re extinct and all!).

Pay close attention to the roots on the Tree of Life

So, if you’re close enough to look at the base of the tree, you can find extinct dinosaurs like the t-rex and pterodactyls…

These animals can be seen all the way around the base of the Tree of Life, so be sure to stop by and see what you can find on your next trip into the park! And, stay tuned to AllEars for more of the latest Disney news and updates!
