It’s the 50th Anniversary of Disney World and there is a TON of new food across the parks and resorts for the special occasion!

And, it’s not just the Quick Service locations that have gotten some new eats and drinks — there are also quite a few new bites at Table Service restaurants too! We’ve already brought you along for a look at the new 50th Anniversary dining experience at California Grill in Disney’s Contemporary Resort and now it’s time to stop into one of the most popular restaurants in Magic Kingdom to try their rather…interesting…menu items!
That’s right, we’re headed into Be Our Guest Restaurant in New Fantasyland! This spot is now home to FOUR new specialty 50th anniversary items and they all pay tribute to the former opening day attraction that used to be located in the area 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.

So, what kind of eats and drinks did Disney come up with to commemorate the ride that could be found in the park for the first 23 years? Well…spoiler…it’s A LOT of octopus!
First up is the Squid’s Revenge cocktail. It is a Michelada (which is a Mexican drink that is made with beer, lime juice, assorted sauces, spices, tomato juice, and chile peppers) with a Salted Rim and garnished with Charred Octopus and Cucumber. And, the real eye-catching thing here is that Octopus — it sticks out of the drink like a sore thumb if you’re not into it.

If you’re brave enough to give it a try, you can get it for $13 and you’ll even get to do a little photoshoot with the drink and Samson the Scuba Diver who is brought out by the server when you order!

For those with less of an adventurous side, there’s also the new non-alcoholic drink — The Nautilus. This drink is a Blue Raspberry Slushy that is topped with Swedish Fish and a special 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea Glow Cube. It costs $15 and is served in what looks like a small fishbowl.

When it comes to your meal, Disney has added two new 50th anniversary items to the prix fixe menu that guests can order from while they dine. This includes the Ned Land Sea Cake dessert, which features Lemon and Strawberry Shell Cake, Pistachio Microwave Cake, Chocolate Rocks, Grey Stuff, and Swedish Fish (we actually really enjoyed this one!)…

…and the Captain Nemo Octopus starter, which is a Seaweed Salad with Cucumber, Pickled Beets, Hearts of Palm, Tapioca Crackers, Beets Mousse, and Carrot-Ginger Silk. You’ll even find some octopus on there, so you’ll probably want to be a fan of it (or at least not be turned off by the sight) if you’re planning to order this.
Keep in mind that Be Our Guest is currently priced at $62 for adults and $37 for kids, so you want to be sure that there are other items on the menu that you’ll enjoy before you make your reservation to try these new eats and drinks. And, we’ll bring you a look at more new 50th anniversary offerings soon, so stay tuned to AllEars for more!
