We’ve celebrated the 50th Anniversary in a variety of ways this week!
We checked out new entertainment options, shopped new merchandise, and ate a TON of snacks. Now, we’re headed to California Grill at Disney’s Contemporary Resort to enjoy the new 50th Anniversary prix fixe menu!
Atmosphere
When we arrived at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, we headed to the second floor to check in for our meal. Here, you’ll board the private elevator that leads to California Grill.
Once we arrived at the top of the resort, we were greeted by Cast Members and took a look at the Dress Code.
Instead of the restaurant’s regular menu, guests will now be able to order from a special prix fixe menu, which began being offered yesterday, October 3rd.
There was a wide selection of appetizers…
…entrées..
…and desserts!
There was also a range of wines…
…cocktails…
…as well as sake, hard ciders, and beers!
When you order, you’ll choose an appetizer, an entree, and a dessert. The meal is $89 (without tax and tip) for adults and $39 for children.
The Meal
We started our meal with a beverage, ordering the Icewine Martini with Belvedere Vodka, Inniskillin Vidal Icewine, Flame Raisins on the Vine for $23 and the Blueberry Lemon Drop Martini with Three Olives Blueberry Vodka, Lemon and Pomegranate Juices, Sugared Rim for $15.
For the appetizer, we got the Lobster and Parsnip Bisque (new) with Lobster, Champagne, Crème Fraîche, Parsnip Crisp…Â
…House-made Artisanal-style Duck À L’Orange Pizza (new) with Duck Prosciutto and Confit, Pickled Shallots, Orange-Black Mission Fig Jam, Aged Blue Cheese, Arugula…
…and the Braised Beef Short Rib Wontons with Doenjang Miso-Cola-Onion Sauce, Crispy Garlic-Chili Oil, Radish, Pickled Lotus Root.
For our entrées, we chose the Oak-fired Filet of Beef, which has black truffle-brown butter château potatoes, golden raisins vinaigrette, cauliflower, and roasted tomato butter.
We also got the Handcrafted Wild Mushroom Ravioli, which came with Chanterelle mushrooms, honeynut squash, herb-pistachio pesto, and truffle-mushroom “cream.”
Our last adult entrée was the Free-range Plancha-seared Chicken, which had sunchoke variations, confit-studded mousseline, pearl onions, foraged mushrooms, and madeira sauce.
From the kids’ menu, we got the Grilled Beef Tenderloin as well.
For our desserts, we tried the Five Magical Bites 50 Years in the Making, which has honey, lemon, carrot, strawberry, and chocolate dessert samples.
We also got the EARidescent Grand Marnier Soufflé, which came with creamsicle ice cream and macerated Florida citrus fruit.
Next we tried the Valrhona Chocolate Torte, which had candied peanuts, salted caramel, nougat, and whipped panna cotta.
