A Fan Favorite Part of Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin Was Missing Today

While we walk around the Disney parks, we’re always looking out for changes or updates.

Sometimes we spot new merchandise, a fun new snack, or decorations up around the parks. Other times we might notice that something is MISSING. Today, we saw that a major part of a popular ride was missing at Disney’s Magic Kingdom.

At Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin, a very important character was missing from the queue: Buzz Lightyear.

Usually a larger-than-life Buzz is standing there, talking to the new recruits and giving instructions on how to defeat Zurg in the game.

But when we went through, there was a large black curtain with a “Star Command” logo covering the area instead. We’re assuming this is for routine maintenance or paint touch-ups on the Buzz animatronic, since rides are frequently updated this way throughout Disney World.

In the meantime, if you’re hoping to see Buzz Lightyear, you can always visit his statue in Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. You’ll find him near the Alien Swirling Saucers ride.

Looking good, Buzz!

This version of Buzz isn’t an animatronic — just a statue — but it’s better than a black curtain if you’re hoping for a picture with the Space Ranger!
