PHOTOS & VIDEOS: We’re at the First Night of BOO Bash in Disney World

It’s Halloween time in Disney World!

Fall in Magic Kingdom!

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party may not be happening this year, but there’s a NEW event for guests looking to dress up and trick-or-treat in Magic KingdomDisney After Hours BOO Bash! Today is the first night that the event is taking over the park and we’re bringing you along with us to check out all that there is to explore! Let’s get to it!

This season, there are 28 BOO Bash dates (on select nights between August and October) where guests can experience the Halloween holiday with Disney characters and more during the 3-hour ticketed event.

And, with the event kicking off in just a few hours, we’re already headed into the park!

Atmosphere

Guests who purchase BOO Bash tickets are able to enter Magic Kingdom as early as 7PM without a separate day ticket or Park Pass Reservation, and that’s when we arrived!

It’s BOO Bash Time!

We also noticed that tickets were being sold at the Magic Kingdom Will Call window, so guests who wanted to tack that on to their day could make their purchase up front!

Just keep in mind that this won’t always be available, as the events do sell out.

There weren’t too many people at the entrance gate with us, so we got through pretty quickly and a Cast Member put on our wristband to signify that we have tickets to BOO Bash and can stay in the park after 9:30PM.

Wrist band acquired!

Once inside, we picked up a BOO Bash park map to be sure we didn’t miss anything that the night had in store!

Inside, you can find a listing of allll the exclusive snacks, merchandise, and entertainment!

Plus, you can be sure that you don’t miss any of the trick-or-treating locations, magic shots, character sightings, and more by using the full park map inside!

When it came to crowds, there was still a mix of regular day guests and guests who had purchased a ticket to BOO Bash when we arrived.

Though, those here for the event were pretty easy to pick out because many of them were dressed up in full costume (which is only allowed on event dates).

They’re Skippers!

But, luckily there was still plenty of room to make our way down Main Street, U.S.A. taking in all of the Halloween decorations!

After we made our way to Cinderella Castle, we pulled up the My Disney Experience app to check out what the crowds were like before the event began and noticed that the park was pretty “normal,” with average wait times for the attractions.

Though, as the evening went on, wait times continued to decrease.

And, at 8:45PM, Disney’s Happily Ever After fireworks show went off for everyone in the park!

And then it was time for Halloween to take over Magic Kingdom! Guests who had not bought a ticket to the event started to clear out, the music switched to something a bit more spooky, and new projections appeared around the park by 9:15PM.

Trick or Treating

Of course, it wouldn’t be Halloween without some trick-or-treating! There are trick-or-treat locations around the park where you can pick up things like Snickers, Skittles, and M&M’s. And, you can grab your bag bright and early from Tortuga Tavern (which isn’t serving food right now) or over in Tomorrowland where Cast Members are also out distributing wrist bands for party guests.

Pick up your trick or treating bag at Tortuga Tavern!

If you happen to have a food allergy, you’ll want to be sure to head over to the Allergy-Friendly Center in Liberty Square! There you’ll be given a teal-colored treat bag…

…and you can select all of the allergy-friendly treats that you’d like from the counter.

This year, you can visit SEVEN different trick-or-treating locations including one near Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor at the entrance to Tomorrowland…

…and others near Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe, Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room, Splash Mountain, Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe, Ariel’s Grotto, Pinocchio Village Haus, and Pete’s Silly Side Show. Just look for the GIANT blow-up pole to know where to go!

Character Cavalcades

Keep in mind that the Boo To You Parade is not part of Disney’s BOO Bash this year, but there are still plenty of ways to see your favorite characters dressed up for Halloween!

Mickey’s Happy Halloween Cavalcade started in Frontierland at 9:55PM and featured Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, and friends.

Hey, Mickey!

It made a loop around the hub in front of Cinderella Castle and then exited back the way it came!

Pluto Having a BLAST

Plus, the cavalcade also happens at 11:25PM — it begins in Frontierland again, but instead of looping around the hub by Cinderella Castle it travels all the way down Main Street, U.S.A.!

Then, we saw the Disney Villains Halloween Cavalcade with Gaston, Dr. Facilier, Jafar, and the Queen of Hearts. The cavalcade starts from Frontierland and goes down through Main Street, U.S.A. at 10:30PM and 11:45PM!

Also out on the town was Jack’s Nightmare Cavalcade including Jack Skellington, Sally, and Oogie Boogie at both 10:40PM and 11:55PM, following the same path as the Villains Cavalcade!

Finally, Maleficent’s Fiery Prowl made its way through the kingdom breathing fire at 10:50PM and 12:05AM!

Because all of the cavalcades took place throughout the night and guests were a bit more spread out in the park, we didn’t have any trouble finding a spot for viewing on Main Street!

Entertainment

There’s also plenty of entertainment around the park to keep you busy! If you wanna get your groove on during the event, head on over to the DJ Dance Party at the Rockettower Plaza Stage in Tomorrowland! The party goes on the whole night from 9:30PM-12:30AM.

And, the Cadaver Dans Barbershop Quartet is also out in Frontierland throughout the night singing some recognizable Disney Halloween tunes!

You can catch them at 9:40PM, 10:20PM, 11:05PM, and 12:10AM.

Characters

And, it wouldn’t be a Disney Halloween party without some characters, right? We spotted Goofy in his finest pirate outfit over near Pirates of the Caribbean in Adventureland…

…and the whole gang from the Hundred Acre Woods was hanging out in front of Crytal Palace on Main Street, U.S.A.! There was Pooh…

…Tigger…

…and Eeyore!

But, that’s not all! We also spotted Gideon and Honest John from Disney’s Pinocchio saying hi to guests from afar at Pinocchio Village Haus…

…and over near the queue at the Haunted Mansion, Madame Carlotta is also back to bring some comedy to your travels.

Plus, Chip ‘n’ Dale also made an appearance in their best Halloween costumes on a balcony in Frontierland!

Look at Those Cuties!

As a reminder, meet and greets are currently suspended in Disney World so the characters are a bit further away, but you can still hang around and give a wave!

Merchandise

This year, you won’t find any BOO Bash exclusive merchandise, but you can pick up all of the spooky merchandise available during regular park hours at Magic Kingdom during the event too! So, you can stop into The Emporium on Main Street, U.S.A…

Food and Drink

We had to do some eating and drinking during the event, too! This year, you can find SIX different BOO Bash exclusive eats and drinks so we headed over to Auntie Gravity’s Galactic Goodies around 9:20PM for our first!

Here you can find the Prince John Sucker Frozen Drink which is a tart green apple lemonade slush topped with a ring pop.

It costs $5.99.

Then there is the Foolish Mortal Funnel Cake over at Sleepy Hollow, which is a Funnel Cake topped with Oreo crumbles, purple vanilla ice cream, green drizzle icing, and M&M’s Milk Chocolate Candies Ghouls Mix for $7.99.

Storybook Treats is also serving up a specialty drink called the Five Dozen Egg Slush. It’s got frozen custard with brown sugar topped with whipped cream garnished with a cinnamon stick…

And, over at Golden Oak Outpost, there are TWO specialty snacks including the Apple Ginger Dale Frozen Drink which is made with frozen apple cider mixed with ginger ale and topped with whipped cream and TWIX Cookie Bars for $5.99

…and the Mocha Chocolate Chip Frozen Drink which is a frozen mocha topped with whipped cream, chocolate chips, and a sugar acorn. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to get this one because the frozen drink machine wasn’t working properly to make it.

Lastly, there’s the Maleficent Churro that can be found at the snack cart on Main Street, U.S.A.! This is a churro covered in chocolate cookie crumbles drizzled with purple icing and topped with green and purple sprinkles and costs $7.

Plus, all Disney After Hour events traditionally include complimentary snacks like ice cream novelties (including Mickey Premium Bars), popcorn, and select beverages, and BOO Bash is the same! The free snacks are available at select snack kiosks that are open throughout the park.

  1. We have tickets for later in Sept…do you know the significance of the wristband colors? The ones in the article look off white, but I’ve seen different colors online?

  2. My son and grandson will be there this year for BOO Bash. Thanks for sharing. I can’t wait to show him (he loves Halloween).
