Why Everyone Gets So Excited About Hot Dogs in Disney World

We’re pretty sure y’all have seen some of our posts about Casey’s Corner reopening this week in Magic Kingdom!

Casey’s Corner

For a while now, we’ve been anxiously awaiting the reopening of this beloved restaurant, which features hot dogs, mini corn dogs, and french fries! But maybe you’re wondering why everyone’s making such a big deal about a hot dog stand? Don’t worry! We’ll tell you!

Let’s start with a little back story first…

Who is Casey Anyways?

Casey is the main character in the Walt Disney animated feature Casey at the Bat, which came out in 1946. The film was based on a poem with the same title, written by Ernest Thayer in 1888 — so it’s a pretty old story!

The poem and film tell the story of an exciting baseball game in “Mudville,” featuring the star player Casey! So Casey’s Corner in Magic Kingdom is a tribute to Casey and to baseball in general!

Decor

The restaurant decor inside reminds you of the baseball games back in the good ol’ days. There are vintage photographs, hanging baseball team pennants, and baseball caps around the restaurant and dining room! More decor, like the old fashioned Coca Cola signs and red-and-white striped umbrellas on the tables outside, help to give it an oldies feel.

Cast Members dress in pinstriped baseball uniforms too as part of the theme!

“Take Me Out to the Ball Game”

That brings us to another big reason we love Casey’s…the traditions!

Traditions

Each day, to open Casey’s for the day, Cast Members choose two guests (usually the first people in line) to throw out the first pitch and officially open the restaurant! These guests usually receive a free brownie for their hard work.

After the first pitch, Cast Members lead guests in a loud and proud verse of “Take Me Out to the Ball Game”! After that, the restaurant is open and guests can grab their hot dogs! And just outside the restaurant there’s a piano, where a musician typically come to play throughout the day.

Casey’s has a relaxed and fun environment that’s also full of long-standing Disney traditions!

Food

Is there anything more crowd-pleasing than a good, simple hot dog?

That’s not all you’ll find at Casey’s though! One of our favorite things to eat at Disney is their corn dog nuggets with a side of cheese sauce!

OK, so the eats here aren’t necessarily gourmet, but they’re classics that kids usually love and adults sometimes secretly want to indulge in once in a while!

Location

We love the history, decor, and food of Casey’s, but the location might really be the biggest reason that Casey’s gets all the hype. It’s right on the corner of Main Street, U.S.A., facing Cinderella Castle.

Casey’s has the ideal location!

If you’re looking for a spot to enjoy classic Disney views and be right in the middle of all the excitement in Magic Kingdom, it doesn’t get much better than Casey’s. So did we convince you?
