It’s been over a year since guests were last able to ride the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover in Magic Kingdom.

We’ve been keeping a close eye on the refurbishment schedule for the attraction. And after several extensions to the ride’s refurbishment, the PeopleMover finally received an opening date a few days ago.
According to a post by Jeff Vahle, the President of the Walt Disney World Resort, the PeopleMover was set to reopen this weekend in Magic Kingdom. Stitch was even spotted testing out the attraction yesterday. We headed out to the park bright and early this morning to check out the latest PeopleMover updates and see if it would open as scheduled.

Magic Kingdom opened at 8AM this morning, and we noticed that there were still signs up indicating that the attraction was closed.

We did see the ride vehicles moving early this morning, with Cast Members onboard to test. But the ride stopped testing right around the time the park officially opened, and we spotted maintenance Cast Members at the attraction. The testing still hadn’t resumed over an hour after it was paused.

At 8AM, there were a handful of parties waiting outside the attraction, but since then most guests have left the line. Just after 8AM, we were told by a Cast Member that they had “no estimated time of operation” at the moment. Later, around 9:30AM, we overheard another Cast Member tell a guest that the ride may be running by later today or tonight.

So, when can we FINALLY return for a ride on our beloved PeopleMover?? Based on updates from Cast Members and the activity we’ve seen so far, it’s unclear when the PeopleMover will reopen. We’ll continue to keep a close eye on the progress, so stay tuned for all of the latest updates!
