Disney World is Testing a New Feature That Makes Seeing Your Ride Photos Easier!

We spent some time in Disney’s Hollywood Studios today!

Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway

While hanging out in the park, we received a notification from the My Disney Experience App, letting us know about a new feature being tested in the park!

One of the most fun (and entertaining) parts of going on rides in Disney World is being able to see your on-ride photos at the end! Well, it seems that Disney is testing out a new feature that’s going to make your on-ride PhotoPass pictures a little bit more accessible!

The initial notification that we received told us what the new feature is, and that it’s currently in testing mode.

After we clicked to learn more about the new feature, we were brought to this screen that shared a little description about it! The new feature is designed to automatically link your attraction photos directly to your My Disney Experience app.

A little description about the feature!

Guests wearing MagicBands could already get some of their on-ride photos automatically linked to their My Disney Experience account through the use of RFID technology. Some rides in Disney World also have PhotoPass spots at the exit where guests can tap their MagicBands or cards to link their photos.

But, with this new offering, you won’t have to scan anything at the PhotoPass spot at the end of the ride or use your MagicBand to automatically link the photos. Instead, it appears the photos will automatically be linked to your My Disney Experience account through your mobile device.  But, you can still tap your MagicBand if you wish.

Currently, this new service is only being tested on Tower of Terror and Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. Plus, you’ll need to make sure your phone’s Bluetooth is enabled for the Disney World app prior to riding for it to work.

We’ll be on the lookout to see if this feature is being tested in any other Disney World parks! Check back with us for more updates.

  1. We were at wdw in January and all of our ride photos were posted to the app automatically. The first day we were in mk and didn’t know haunted mansion even too photos. But on day two splash mountain and haunted mansion , space mountain, seven dwarfs mine train all showed up. As the week when along rides in every park showed up. So I don’t think it was a fluke that ours did but we didn’t do anything to make them. We love that they did but they automatically did. Also we didn’t have blue tooth turned on.
