Disney World is going big for its 50th anniversary in 2021, rolling out a slate of new attractions and restaurants.

Naturally, that means there’s a ton of construction taking place throughout the parks nowadays, and nowhere is this more evident than Magic Kingdom, where one wildly anticipated roller coaster continues to make progress in Tomorrowland!Â
Of all the rides currently on the Disney pipeline, few are as eagerly awaited as TRON Lightcycle Run. Currently deep in the midst of construction at Magic Kingdom, this next-level ride is sure to be unlike anything Disney World has ever seen, featuring futuristic vehicles and lighting that’s definitely befitting the Tomorrowland locale!Â

We’ve been following updates and monitoring progress with what we could see from within the park, and nearby resorts. The initial goal was to launch the ride in 2021, in time for Disney World’s epic 50th anniversary, and per our latest sweep through Magic Kingdom, it looks like they’re making good on that promise!

The ride is going to be an indoor coaster, much like its neighbor ride Space Mountain, and it’s going to be contained within a series of sweeping canopy buildings. We notice that the first major installment seems done, with portions of the track swerving outside and under a sea of scaffolding.Â

With so much intricate scaffolding currently on full display, it looks like Disney is preparing to wrap the rest of the canopy very soon, with cranes poised to do the heavy lifting! In the meantime, we can still marvel at the thrilling network of roller coaster tracks, and let our imaginations run wild about what it’ll be like to zoom through the ride on bikes!Â
