Since Universal Studios reopened in early June, there have been plenty of differences in the parks.

Although there have been new features like Virtual Queues in the parks, Universal Orlando has also had to cancel events like Halloween Horror Nights. While both Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure are open, Universal will have to make a few changes with its operations during this time.
Orlando Sentinel has reported that Universal will be laying off more employees. While the parks haven’t announced which departments will be experiencing cuts, the employees affected will receive severance pay, subsidized health benefits, and reemployment assistance, according to the Universal spokesperson Tom Schroder.

Universal released a statement where Schroeder said, “We have again made the difficult decision to reduce our workforce to reflect current priorities and needs. As always, we are aware of the impact this will have on those affected by this decision and their families.”

This news comes days after Universal announced it would again be shortening its daily hours, with Universal Studios Florida open daily from 9AM to 5PM, and Islands of Adventure open from 10AM to 6PM.

His statement also detailed that the parks will be “prioritizing daily operations and shorter-term projects and continuing our pause on longer-term projects such as Epic Universe as we allow the tourism industry to recover.”

Although Epic Universe’s construction is delayed, Orange County may still be giving Universal Orlando $5 million to construction its third theme park. While we don’t have much information about the parks’ employment situation, we’ll continue to keep you updated!
These are the biggest differences we’ve seen between Universal Orlando and Disney World’s reopenings!
