Universal Orlando has been teasing an “epic” announcement all week. The suspense ended this morning at a press conference. Universal Orlando will be opening a third theme park called Universal’s Epic Universe.
A project timeline and opening date were not announced this morning.
The new park will sit on a 750-acre plot of land and include a new entertainment district with shops, restaurants, and hotels. Details on specific attractions within the new park were not announced at the press event. Though little information was shared on the new location, a piece of concept art was shared.
One interesting fact that came out at the event was the location of the new park — this will not be attached to the current Universal Orlando parks or site. The new park will be near the Orange County Convention Center. No information was shared on guest transportation between the two sites.
It is anticipated the new location will employ 14,000 people in the Central Florida region in addition to the 25,000 people Universal Orlando currently employs.
