Booking Dates for Park Reservations

Disney has revealed the dates for when all Resort guests and ticket holders can begin to use the upcoming theme park reservation system. In order to enter a park upon reopening, “both a park reservation AND valid admission for the same park on the same date are required for each person in your party ages 3 and up (limit one park per day).”

Additionally, Annual Passholders will be limited to making three reservations at at time.

Ticket holders will be able to book on the following dates:

  • Disney Resort and “other select hotel Guests” (this includes Disney’s Swan and Dolphin, along with Disney Springs Resort hotels) who have valid theme park admission can begin making reservations on June 22nd
  • Annual Passholders without a Resort stay can make reservations beginning June 26th.
  • Any other existing ticket holders can begin making reservations June 28th.

During this time, park reservations will be available through September 26th, 2021, based on “your Resort stay and ticket eligibility or ticket eligibility window.”

For guests that have a room-only reservation for 2021 at a Disney Resort hotel (or other select hotels), Disney has stated that you may call the Disney Reservation Center, or your travel professional, starting June 24th to “upgrade to a vacation package with tickets” so that you may make your theme park reservations.

Disney has also provided a helpful video overviewing all that you need to know about how the theme park reservation system will work, which you can watch below.

Link Your Tickets to Your My Disney Experience in Advance

Disney had previously stressed the importance of guests downloading and linking their accounts to their My Disney Experience app, and this latest update provides more clarity on why that is!

When the Disney Parks Pass System goes live, you will need:

  • My Disney Experience account
  • Your valid theme park ticket or Annual Pass linked to your My Disney Experience
  • If you have a Disney Resort Hotel reservation, that should also be linked to your My Disney Experience

When the reservation system goes live, you’ll be able to log onto My Disney Experience, where you will have “access to a calendar of available reservation dates for each theme park.”

Families and friends will be able to link their tickets together, so make sure you are all linked together on My Disney Experience prior to the reservation system going live. Notably, if you have a multi-day ticket, you will be required to make a park reservation for each date of your visit.

Park Hopping Will NOT Be Available at Reopening

When the Disney Park Pass System becomes available for booking, guests will be limited to selecting one park per day. They have confirmed that park hopping will be temporarily unavailable at reopening, due to the theme parks keeping attendance limited.

EPCOT Monorail

If you are a guest with an existing Park Hopper Option or Park Hopper Plus Option ticket, you will have several options.

  • Ticket Extension: You can use your current date-based ticket with the existing add-on by September 26, 2021, though Disney does add that this is “should the options return by that date”
  • Ticket Modification: Resort Packages with tickets may be modified or cancelled. To discuss your options, please call the Disney Reservation Center at (407) W-DISNEY or (407) 934-7639 beginning June 22nd, or contact your travel professional.
  • Ticket Cancellation: You may also cancel your ticket by calling the Disney Reservation Center at (407) 566-4985 beginning June 22nd, or contact your travel professional.

Disney has said they hope to bring park hopping back soon, and when 2021 ticket purchases become available, they will continue to offer these options as add-ons.

MagicBands

Disney World will be temporarily discontinuing complimentary MagicBands for Resort hotel guests starting with arrivals on January 1st, 2021.

Instead, Disney World will be moving towards a new tool on the My Disney Experience app in 2021 that will bring MagicBand features to smart devices on top of the digital key availability on the app already.

Dooney and Bourke Ink and Paint MagicBand

Disney Resort guests will still be able to purchase new MagicBands at a discount with even more colors and designs. During their visit, guests can also use the My Disney Experience app or a Key to the World card instead of a MagicBand. Retail locations and shopDisney will still be selling MagicBands for guests to continue wearing in Disney World.

  1. So will booking be for all of 2021. Seems vague so far, it says reservations to September 26th, but nothing about booking hotels and tickets. Will it go through December, or are they holding off on that for now?

  2. Just clarifying no park hopping situation. Will you be able to leave and return to the same park in a given day if you have a reservation? Could we go in the morning and then return after a rest in the afternoon or is that considered park hopping?

  3. Agreed with a previous poster. Way too little of information, especially for families that have Disney rooms reserved without tickets except the statement 2020 tickets will be released “later this summer”. I realize you’re just a messenger. I’m lucky I have mine, but have the people in our group didn’t purchase them yet.

    1. To everyone asking about purchasing tickets & seeing that you can add them “later this summer”, the email I received today from Disney states that you can call Disney or your travel agent, to add park tickets, on June 24th, as long as you have a resort reservation.
As for the statement is this article that says Annual Passholders can only reserve park reservations for 3 days, that is only for passholders that do not have a resort reservation. If you have a resort reservation & are an annual passholder, you can book park reservations for each day of your stay on June 22nd.
Hope this information helps! I am an annual passholder & have a resort reservation for the end of August, so I will be making my park reservations Monday morning…yay!!!

  4. Our DVC reservation is for September 5-12 but we don’t have tickets. How much later is Disney going to let us know than ” later in summer ” ?

  5. We have a Shades of Green (eligible resort) stay for Sept 4 but no tickets yet. It sounds like you say we will be able to call beginning June 24th to add tickets but the Disney website says those with 2021 resort stays with no tickets can call beginning June 24th. Is this a Disney typo and should be 2020?

    1. Just called Disney and only those with resort only stays in 2021 can call beginning June 24th. Those of us with resort only stays in 2020 fall into the “can buy tickets later this summer” category. Disney doesn’t have a date yet for what “later this summer” means which is super frustrating considering my resort stay is later this summer.

  6. We have a resort booking with a 14 day ticket for June 2021, will we need to book our park reservations later this month?

  7. We have booked the beach club for jun2021, with a 14 day ticket, will we need to book our park reservations when it open this month?

    1. Hi Christine! As of now, according to Disney, Disney World will be releasing new 2020 tickets for sale “later this summer”

    1. Hi Alex! As of now, according to Disney, Disney World will be releasing new 2020 tickets for sale “later this summer”

  8. Way too little information at this time. If you have a multi day pass, can you reserve multiple days at once or only one day at a time? I haven’t been in a long time so I am probably not up to day with ticket purchases. Last time I had a ticket voucher not tickets. Does this mean we can’t make reservations until we actually have ticket in hand?
