What sets the scene for the holidays more than cozying up next to the fire with your loved ones, sipping on hot cocoa, and waiting for Santa to arrive? If you’re worried that your Walt Disney World holiday vacay will have to skip the idyllic chimney-and-fireplace of our Christmas dreams, fear not!
We’ve compiled a list of all the Santa-Approved* Chimneys at Walt Disney World Resorts.
Boatwright’s Dining Hall at Port Orleans Resort — Riverside
If you’re craving some Southern-style comfort food, Boatwright’s Dining Hall at Port Orleans Resort — Riverside may be just the spot for you.
You’ll feel far removed from the hectic theme parks in this warm and inviting table service spot that features a fireplace in the back dining room.
Copper Creek Villas and Cabins
In addition to the super rustic vibe, the 26 waterfront Cascade Cabins at Copper Creek Villas and Cabins feature an indoor-outdoor, double-sided, stone-hearth fireplace.
The cabin itself features exposed wooden beams and floor-to-ceiling windows for the ultimate in rustic comfort.
Disney’s BoardWalk Inn
The mantel fireplace is a focal point in the public meeting space at Disney’s BoardWalk. You’ll have to brave those terrifying chairs on either side, but it’s beautiful otherwise.
Wilderness Lodge
Grand and opulent is what comes to mind when thinking of the lobby at Wilderness Lodge. The high ceilings make space for an 80-foot tall stone fireplace that might be our favorite entry on this cozy list!
The lobby also features rocking chairs, totem poles, wood carvings, teepee chandeliers, and a stunning Christmas display.
Animal Kingdom Lodge
In a similar style to Wilderness Lodge, the Animal Kingdom Lodge lobby also showcases soaring ceilings and captivating architecture. The distinctive theming is modeled after a South African wildlife reserve lodge and features a large mud fireplace. Couple that with the woodsy smells from downstairs’ Boma buffet, and you’ve got a multi-sensory experience!
Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground
While not technically a chimney, Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground does offer up a mean fire!
Open to all guests with admission free of charge, each night the property comes alive with a sing-along led by a Disney Cast Member and a marshmallow roast around two campfire rings. And you’re even likely to meet Chip ‘n’ Dale here!
Cinderella Castle Suite
Stays here are reserved for contest winners, for the most part, but if you happen to find yourself in this suite located inside Magic Kingdom’s Cinderella Castle, you can cozy up to your own private antique fireplace.
Remove those glass slippers and relax in the ultimate bucket list place that was originally intended to be an apartment for Walt Disney and his family.
OK…..I have a bone to pick with the WL. In ’17 we stayed at our favorite destination the WL. It was in the middle of December and the lodge was decked out for the Christmas season. The evenings were rather chilly and having come back from the Magic Kingdom via the launch (which we have dubbed the African Queen), we were absolutely shivering! Walked into the lodge hoping to warm up at the magnificent fireplace only to see a pathetic little flame you couldn’t even roast a hot dog on! Get with it Disney! That was totally unacceptable! Why even bother with the fireplace? Multiple demerits are warranted here…..I truly hope the management see’s this….I’m returning in three weeks and this time they will be getting an earful if there is a similar fiasco!
During the holidays, We stay at the all star resorts and just wad up a bunch of toilet tissue, pile it in the bath tub and strike a match. Throw in a little pine potpourri and you have Christmas in the Smoky’s. We’ll roast marsh mallows and sing carols until the sprinklers come on. It’s best to do this on your last night so you don’t have to sleep on wet blankets.
