Fire Forces “it’s a small world” Evacuation at Disney World

Things can go wrong even in the Most Magical Place on Earth, no matter how much we hope they don’t.

On July 1st, 2026, a reported fire broke out mid-ride on “it’s a small world” in Magic Kingdom, forcing Disney to evacuate the ride and manage the incident.

A TikTok video from user @coachbragg shows riders being evacuated from the attraction as smoke fills the loading area, while Cast Members work to extinguish the fire.

Disney Cast Members worked quickly to extinguish the fire, and while Disney has not (and likely will not) confirm what happened, online reports indicate that the fire may have been caused by a parkgoer’s portable charger igniting inside a bag.

One TikTok comment read, “This was a guest’s portable charger exploding – not Disney or the ride.”

Someone who claimed to be a Disney World Cast Member backed up this account and said, “This is correct. SW CM here! Everyone is okay, including the ride itself.”

As of now, Disney hasn’t made any official statements on the incident, but we’ll let you know if that changes.

If you’re ever in a situation like this at Disney World, try to stay calm and wait for Cast Members to instruct you on how to safely evacuate from the ride. Cast Members are trained to handle evacuations from any number of incidents, and it’s important to follow their instructions so that everyone on the ride remains safe.

As far as the alleged fire on “it’s a small world” goes, it sounds like everyone on the ride was evacuated safely, and Disney was able to quickly get the situation under control.
