Disney fans are never short on opinions, especially when it comes to changes coming to the company’s theme parks. You know, like the two massive construction projects that are currently changing the face of the Magic Kingdom forever.

Recently, we took to our Facebook page to ask a simple question: “What are your thoughts on Magic Kingdom’s expansion plans?” Suffice it to say, we got many responses across the spectrum of reactions.
Let’s begin with reader Corey, who was quite excited for the upcoming Villains Land, which is set to be based on popular Disney antagonists. “Super excited for Villains Land!!! I know there are talks of a Maleficent roller coaster, but I’m still crossing my fingers they make it a “Pull The Lever!” roller coaster instead. I also wouldn’t be mad if the coaster itself had multiple Villains throughout the ride! I wanna see Hades incorporated into the roller coaster in some way.”

Well, Corey, if you’re reading this, you may be in luck. According to recent rumors, the design of Villains Land has actually been changed, with the main coaster shifting from a Maleficent theme to one reflecting the famous level scene from The Emperor’s New Groove. We’re expecting some new information. – and perhaps confirmation on the land’s IPs and themes – at this summer’s D23 Ultimate Fan Event.

Several other readers like Spencer (“I am happy they are doing it”) and Main Street Main-Iacs (“I love the idea! I can’t wait!!”) were quite excited, while Cela was a but more mixed (“It’s not as horrible as many want to make it and I’m excited for the changes happening all over Disney World”) but mostly positive… we think?

Of course, there were also some more negative takes on the aforementioned Villains Land, as well as Piston Peak – the Cars-themed National Park-esque land that is currently under construction in the area that was once home to the Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island. For example, reader Ken liked the ideas behind the land, but voiced a frustration that a segment of Disney fans have had with recent Disney lands like Galaxy’s Edge. They wrote, “I like the ideas, would like more than 2 rides per land, honestly though.”

Meanwhile, reader David took issue with Disney’s ticket prices and what effect the new lands may have on them, writing, “Two rides in two years from now. Current one-day tickets are averaging $150. Two years from now, will they be averaging $170 or more? Will this new land increase attendance capacity for the whole of Magic Kingdom?”

Perhaps both sides could use the perspective of reader Audrey, who wrote, “As I approach 50 and the reality of my mortality sets in, I only have one wish! To live long enough to experience Villains Land.” That’s certainly a positive outlook to have! We hope to see you there Audrey!
