Something new is brewing in Norway, and we’re totally here for it!

When we recently swung by EPCOT for a visit, we spotted construction walls blocking off a section of the Norway Pavilion. At first, we were confused about what Disney could possibly be working on in this spot, but after getting a closer look, we think we’ve cracked the case. Let’s dive into what we saw and what it could mean for your next trip!
What’s Behind Those Walls?
If you’re walking into the Norway Pavilion from the Mexico side, you’ve probably noticed a pretty sizable construction wall that wasn’t there before. It’s covering a decent chunk of space right near where that old cart that sold snacks used to sit. We’ve been scratching our heads about this project for a while now, but our most recent visit gave us some major clues.

Peeking over the top of those construction walls, you can actually see what looks like a new kiosk or stand taking shape. There’s a grass-covered roof poking up above the barriers, which is such a classic Norway Pavilion touch. Now, Disney hasn’t officially confirmed anything yet, but we’re pretty confident this is going to be a more permanent snack stand. It would make total sense, especially since it’s replacing that mobile cart that was there before.
The Details That Caught Our Eye
Here’s where it gets really cool. Even though we can only see the top portion of this new structure, the level of detail is absolutely incredible.

That sod roof we mentioned? It’s called a torvtak in Norwegian, and it’s a traditional Scandinavian roofing technique where grass and small plants literally grow on top of the building. It’s not just for show either; it actually provides insulation and helps the structure blend seamlessly with the rest of the pavilion’s village aesthetic. If you’ve ever visited the Royal Sommerhus meet-and-greet spot in Norway, you’ll recognize this same architectural style.

But the real Imagineering magic is in the woodwork. From what we could see, the beams and columns feature these deeply carved, intricate designs that look like traditional Norse dragon-style carvings.

The wood has this dark, weathered stain that makes it look like it’s been standing there for centuries, perfectly matching the vibe of the pavilion’s iconic Stave Church. There are even small iron-caged lanterns hanging from what we assume are the eaves, keeping that rustic, authentic Norwegian feel going strong.
Why We’re Excited
Listen, we’re always rooting for new snack stands (you know us), but this one feels special. Unlike the previous open-air cart, this new structure appears to be fully enclosed with actual service windows. That’s a huge upgrade not just for guests, but also for the Cast Members who’ll be working there.

We didn’t spot any signage yet, so we still don’t officially know what’ll be sold here or what it’ll be called. But considering the location and the style of the building, we wouldn’t be surprised if it offers similar items to what the old cart had, maybe with some new additions thrown in.
The Bottom Line
While we’re still waiting on official confirmation from Disney about what exactly is going on behind those construction walls, all signs point to a gorgeous new snack kiosk that’ll fit right into the Norway Pavilion’s immersive theming. We’ll definitely be keeping our eyes peeled for more updates as this project progresses. Make sure to stay tuned to AllEars so you don’t miss anything!
