There’s a New Reason to Stay at Disney’s Animal Kingdom After Dark

We all miss the days when there was nighttime entertainment in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, right? Remember Rivers of Light? Well, that show got suspended in 2020 (along with a lot of other things). However, you can still catch a nighttime show in Animal Kingdom…if you know where and win.

Tree of Life: Awakenings

The show is Tree of Life: Awakenings, and it’s back! We’ve got all the details for you here.

As of this week, the show has returned with the projections starting at 6:15 PM. This usually happens after daylight saving time ends because it gets darker in Disney World earlier. Before this, the sun usually set AFTER the park closed.

If you haven’t seen the Tree of Life: Awakenings, it’s a beautiful nighttime projection show on the Tree of Life that begins with fireflies appearing on the tree and bringing the animals carved into its trunk to life. You’ll see a young doe starting a new journey, watch two hummingbirds fall in love, and spot a fox sharing gifts in a winter forest.

If you happen to miss the first show, don’t worry! The show repeats every 10 minutes until park close (this week until 8 PM). Showtimes can change, though, so keep an eye on the My Disney Experience app to make sure you don’t miss it. Don’t forget to take a quick walk through Pandora after dark to see that entire land come alive with bioluminescence.
