Whether it’s your first trip to Disney World or your 50th, we all make mistakes while we’re there. Sometimes it’s just more embarrassing when it’s your 50th. ?

We polled our readers on Facebook and asked them what the most embarrassing mistake they have made at Disney World is. We got some great answers, but here are a few that we feel so, so bad about (with some tips on how to avoid them).
Going to Disney World on a Marathon Weekend
Our reader Brittany shared that she made the mistake of going to Disney World on one of the runDisney marathon weekends. This is a pretty big mistake because the parks get VERY crowded on those days!

If you don’t know about these events, it can be easy to end up visiting Disney World on one of these weekends. However, now that you know they exist, it might be a good idea to avoid them as best as you can.

Getting on a Ride Vehicle Backwards
Mindy shared an embarrassing story about her mom getting on the TRON Lightcycle / Run vehicle backwards. Hopefully, it wasn’t awkward and she was able to brush it off!

In all fairness, the cycles are fairly similar on the front and the back. If you’re ever not sure if you’re getting on a ride properly, don’t be afraid to ask the nearest Cast Member for assistance.

Too Many Sweets
Martha had the most relatable mistake, albeit still embarrassing. She told us of a time that she had too much rich food at Les Halles, then topped it with a cronut and ice cream. She shared that she ended up SO sick!

In her defense, Les Halles is a great place for some delicious French food! Overeating here is an easy thing to do.

Accidentally Trying To Use Smart Watch as MagicBand
Reader Barbara shared that she has tried to use her Apple Watch to check in at Lightning Lane queues instead of her MagicBand. While this may feel embarrassing in the moment, it’s really not. Did you know you can actually use your Apple Watch instead of a MagicBand?

If you add your ticket from the My Disney Experience app to your Apple wallet, you can have access to it on you Apple Watch. Then you can tap your Apple Watch at the tap stalls just like using your tap-to-pay feature. Alternatively, you can get the Apple Watch MagicBand adapter to put the center piece of the MagicBand on your watch band!

On a different but similar note, Cassandra shared that she has looked at her MagicBand for the time. That we can’t help with.

Transportation Error
A few people mentioned embarrassing transportation issues. Margaret shared a funny story, “On our first trip I thought we would beat the bus crowds after MK (Magic Kingdom) fireworks, by taking the monorail to EPCOT to catch a bus there. When we showed up the park was closed and a kindly cast member laughed at our mistake and then called us ✨our very own bus to return us to POFQ (Port Orleans — French Quarter Resort). ✨”

Luckily, she can laugh at the mistake now and got the very special treatment thanks to a great Cast Member! To avoid these issues, remember to use your Disney World app. Transportation info, park open and closing times, and more is available right from your phone! This can help you make a solid plan before trying anything too wild.
4 Unspoken Rules for Riding the Disney World Skyliner
Going on Mission: SPACE
Christina and Craig, we’re here for solidarity. Riding Mission: SPACE is a mistake that you only make once. We’re so sorry you had to experience that and suffer the horrible motion sickness consequences.

For anyone who doesn’t know, Mission: SPACE is a ride that has two variations: going to the moon or going to Mars. Going to Mars is a more intense ride, but both often cause motion sickness. This ride is a one and done for MANY people. If you’re prone to motion sickness, we recommend skipping this ride entirely.

Going for the First Time
Marvin quipped his embarrassing mistake was going to Disney World that very first time. And boy was it a mistake for many of us…because now we can’t stop going!

It’s likely we’ll all keep making mistakes in Disney World, but hopefully, we can all learn from each other!
