These Closures Confirm That Thunderstorms Are Wreaking Havoc at Disney World Right Now

The rainy season in Disney World is always hard to plan your trips around, especially when you’re planning on hitting those outdoor rides.

We’re in the parks each and every day, so we see the rain come down pretty often, as well as how badly it can affect rides and shows, but if you know you’ll be traveling during a rainy season, it’s important to have a backup plan. In fact, we recommend having MULTIPLE backup plans, because when a rainy day hits, riding your favorite outdoor attractions gets MUCH harder — here’s how we know.

Over in Magic Kingdom, there are LOTS of outdoor rides affected by storms — more than any other park, in all honesty. In the month of August, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure closed 38 times over the course of 26 days, which is pretty intense for one of the most popular rides in the park. The Magic Carpets of Aladdin also closed 43 times in 23 days, and while this ride isn’t super popular in the park, it still makes one less ride available during the day, which is especially a bummer for families with smaller kids.

However, weather issues aren’t the only things that cause closures in the parks. In the case of Magic Kingdom, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh has also had lots of issues over the past few months, and closed 43 times in 23 days. We wouldn’t be surprised to see this ride close for some TLC soon!

As for Disney’s Hollywood Studios, no one will be surprised to hear that the ride with the most closures this past month was Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster with 36 closures over 22 days. This ride will be rethemed next year, which we’re looking forward to, but we’re also hoping it’ll help the ride with it’s frequent delays!

Second on the list was Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance with 29 closures over 21 days. This one we can never be too mad at, since it’s so technologically advanced, but we also don’t recommend waiting until the end of the day to ride, because it can sometimes go down a few hours before closing and not come back up.

Meanwhile, over in EPCOT, there are no outdoor attractions to worry about, but Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind closed 20 times over 14 days.

If you thought that was bad, wait until we tell you that Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure closed 34 times in 22 days, OR that The Seas with Nemo and Friends, arguably one of the simplest rides in the whole resort, closed 32 times in 17 days. Seriously, what is going ON with this ride?

Finally, over in Animal Kingdom, we weren’t surprised to see that Expedition Everest closed 31 times in 24 days. Being one of two outdoor rides in the park, but also being an older roller coaster that was almost destroyed by its yeti animatronic, that doesn’t shock us.
