A lot of Disney World is under construction right now. You’ll see construction in Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom as those parks get ready for new experiences and new lands.

However, Disney World hotels are also undergoing some construction. Over at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, construction is ongoing, and we’ve got an update on that construction progress to share with you.
If you’ve visited the Disney World website, you’ve probably seen the message on the Wilderness Lodge page that says that the hotel and Copper Creek Villas are undergoing exterior construction work. The work started on August 5th, 2024. The page also states that additional work on rooms at the Copper Creek Villas & Cabins is also underway. All hotel amenities remain open, but construction work can be seen — and heard — during daytime hours.

We visited Wilderness Lodge to get an update, so here’s the latest. At Copper Creek Villas, work is still underway on the lower levels (a Cast Member confirmed Floors 1-3 are still in progress).

There is now scaffolding on the backside of the hotel building with workers actively working on the rooms during the day. We will say the noise levels aren’t too high, but it’s certainly a contrast to the usual tranquillity you can find at the hotel.

The walkway near Artist Point is also blocked due to the construction being so close to the building. This is the walkway that leads outside and down a path that overlooks the property.

This area has become a makeshift holding space for pieces that still need to be installed.

A Cast Member also told us that they were initially given a timeline of a few weeks for this part of the refurbishment, but that it’s already been going on longer than that. An updated timeline hasn’t been specified, but as the work has moved to the bottom floors, it shouldn’t be too much longer. The Disney World website mentions the work should be completed by September 2025.
