REVIEW: You MUST Stay for Dessert at This Disney World Hotel Restaurant

Planning a trip to Disney World and not sure where you should eat while you’re there? Luckily, you’ve come to the right place!

Olivia’s Cafe

Here at AllEars, we know all the ins and outs of Disney World restaurants — including where you should definitely eat, and where you should skip. We recently stopped by Olivia’s Cafe. Located at Disney’s Old Key West Resort, this eatery is a spot where guests can “savor hearty home cooking with a taste of the Florida Keys” according to Disney.

Background

This nautical-themed eatery tells the story of Olivia Farnsworth. According to the restaurant’s lore, Farnsworth “lived in a small cottage along Turtle Krawl, upwind of the strip. Almost daily, she would invite curious passersby who smelled her cooking to come on in and pull up a chair. People loved her vibrant flavors and earthy personality, and, before long, she found herself setting more tables. Eventually, Olivia opened the doors to her eponymous cafe, which has been a haven for locals and a must-visit for out-of-towners ever since.”

Atmosphere

Olivia’s Cafe has a nautical, beach vibe, that provides a laid back dining atomosphere. This is helepd by it’s location at the Old Key West Resort, which is relatively far from the hustle and bustle center of the Walt Disney World Resort.

Check out those nautical details.

But enough about that, what are we eating?!

Food & Drinks

First up, we grabbed Slow-Cooked Prime Rib for $39. This dish is served with roasted garlic mashed potatoes and broccolini.

Prime Rib

We really enjoyed this dish, especially when dipped in the included sauce. The prime rib itself was the perfect combination of chewy and firm at the same time. We ordered medium well, and it was pretty brown, with only small pockets of fat. We found it overall very filling.

Yum

As far as the sides, we loved the mashed potatoes. They were soft and salted, creating a delicious texture and flavor combo. The broccolini was a highlight as well. There was more of it when we were expecting. They tasted fresh, with a light spice and salt flavoring.

To pair with the prime rib dish, we also grabbed the $15 Conch Fritters.

Conch Fritters

These soft corn fritters were good, though admittedly a bit fishy when eaten by themselves. However, when paired with the accompanying key-lime mustard, it gives them a burst of extra flavor.

Definitely use the sauce.

Also, don’t forget to try out the complimentary included bread, which has a bit of a sweet and fruity taste to it.

Sweet Bread

Finally, for dessert with grabbed the $9 Olivia’s Bananas Foster, which is served with warm banana bread, bananas foster sauce, and vanilla ice cream. We really enjoyed this dessert! The ice cream had this crunchy drizzle to it, while the caramelized bananas, banana bread, and strawberries combined to create a delicious flavor-profile to craft a dish which we would absolutely have again.

Decadent

To drink, we picked up the Cherry Bourbon Splash, which is currently no longer listed on the online menu. We’d recommend asking your server to check availability.

Cherry Bourbon Splash

Honestly, we found this cocktail a tad watered down on its first sip, and we needed to stir it up well. It was like I wasn’t getting much of an alcohol taste, and I was getting a tiny bit of cherry taste. Once stirred, the drink was sweet, though not too sweet to totally mask the state of the alcohol.

Magic or Tragic?
