We’ve mentioned multiple times now that 2025 is going to be a massive construction year for Disney World, and now even more construction projects are being added to the calendar.

Disney just announced that select stores at Disney’s BoardWalk and the Fuentes del Morro Feature Pool and Aquatic Play Area will be closed for refurbishment. Here’s what you need to know.
Disney’s BoardWalk Inn has been undergoing several refurbishments for a while now, but now Disney just announced that the stores on Disney’s BoardWalk will be undergoing refurbishment. Disney’s official statement reads:
From January 2025 through May 2025, the merchandise locations along Disney’s BoardWalk will be refurbished. Two merchandise locations will remain available for Guests throughout the refurbishment. During this time, Guests may see and hear construction activity in the area.
Currently, Screen Door General Store is closed, while Disney’s Character Carnival and Thimbles & Threads both remain open. At this time, there is no information about when these upgrades will be complete.

Over at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, the Fuentes del Morro Feature Pool and Aquatic Play Area closed on January 13th for routine maintenance. However, this closure is expected to be complete before the end of January!

These closures join the massive amounts of construction continuing around Disney World, such as:
- The first part of DinoLand U.S.A. closing and Imagineers broke ground on the new Tropical Americas Land in Animal Kingdom
- Major construction happening at The Emporium in Magic Kingdom
- New Pirates Tavern Lounge is coming to Magic Kingdom
- Astro Orbiter and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad construction in Magic Kingdom
- New Spaceship Earth Lounge coming to EPCOT
And that’s just to name a few!
