How will Disney World’s big change affect its NEWEST ride?

The next four weeks are going to be game-changing for Disney World. We’ve already known for a while that the Magic Kingdom’s newest attraction, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, will be opening to the public on June 28th. Earlier this week, we learned that Disney would be completely revamping its Genie+ system into a new take on Lightning Lane that will change Disney World vacations going forward. So, how will one affect the other?
Disney’s new Lightning Lane system will feature two options: Lightning Lane Multi Pass will allow you to make three Lightning Lane selections in a specific Disney World theme park in advance of your visit, while Lightning Lane Single Pass will allow you to “secure a time to ride one of (Disney’s) most highly demanded attractions” for an additional charge in advance — much like it functions now.
However, just how far in advance will depend on what kind of guest you are. If you’re staying at a Walt Disney World hotel, you can begin booking your Lightning Lane passes up to 7 days in advance, for your entire stay (up to 14 days). If you’re off property, you can begin booking up to 3 days in advance.

For the Magic Kingdom, there are 3 tiers of rides you can book lightning lanes for in advance. For Lightning Lane Multi-Pass, you can book ONE experience from a higher tier group, and two (or all three if you so choose) experiences from a lower tier group. There are also two attractions at the park — Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and TRON Lightcycle / Run — that are ONLY available as separate Lightning Lane Single Pass purchases and aren’t part of the Lightning Lane Multi-Pass options.

So, where does Tiana’s Bayou Adventure fit in? It’s on that first tier, along with Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Jungle Cruise, Peter Pan’s Flight, and Space Mountain, which means that a Lightning Lane Multi-Pass can only be booked for ONE of these in advance.

In addition, it seems that Tiana’s Bayou Adventure — along with Walt Disney World’s other attractions — could have a standby queue normally and a virtual queue on occasion. According to the company, “…standby lines are still available at most attractions and experiences. From time to time, a virtual queue—accessible via the My Disney Experience app—may be used for a limited number of our most highly demanded attractions. When the virtual queue is in place, a standby queue will not be available, and Guests must use the My Disney Experience app to enter the attraction or experience.”

So, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will be eligible for Lightning Lane Multi-Pass reservations if you can snag one. Stay tuned to AE for further updates on the new system as things come to light.
