Last night, a small fire broke out at Disney’s Magic Kingdom, causing guests to be evacuated from Cinderella Castle.

In an event unlike any other, guests were cleared out of the way as fire trucks and emergency response vehicles drove directly down Main Street, U.S.A. Guests who were in the park were left with a lot of questions about what was going on, but now we have more details.
Today, the Orlando Sentinel reports that we may know the cause of the fire thanks to Jon Shirey, president of the Reedy Creek Firefighters Association. Shirey shared that the call initially came into the fire department around 6:45PM, and it was reported as “an electrical fire on a junction box outside the castle.”

Once the firefighters arrived, they saw a tree on fire next to Cinderella Castle. A firework appeared to have caught the tree on fire, but Shirey noted that the true cause is still pending investigation by the Fire Marshal. Firefighters treated one security Cast Member at the scene who inhaled dry chemicals from a fire extinguisher, and an unidentified Disney spokesperson later noted that a Cast Member was transported from the park for “non-emergency treatment.” No other injuries have been reported.

We’ll stay tuned for more news on this fire, including any official reports. At this time, things are back to normal in Magic Kingdom and Cinderella’s Royal Table is operating as usual.
