Why You Should Avoid This Disney World Hotel Until Next Year

Well, we got a great update on a current construction project in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, but in the same week, another Disney World hotel has succumbed to refurbishments.

Coronado Springs

Not to mention, another popular Disney World hotel is currently dealing with a pretty intense water outage issue, though the resort remains open. Yeah, there’s a lot that’s happening — let’s get you caught up!

Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort is quite popular, especially for those looking to travel to Disney and splurge a bit. It’s also a popular spot for conventions, and that’s where the construction comes in. Parts of the hotel will now be under refurbishment for the next YEAR.

Coronado Springs Resort

In good news, we got a great look at the entrance for the new Pueblo Esperanza land coming to Animal Kingdom, and that’s certainly some good news we’ll gladly take. Let’s take a look at other current closures you need to know about from August 14th through August 21st!

Magic Kingdom

Carousel of Progress

Carousel of Progress closed on July 6th to begin a refurbishment that will include completely revamping the scenes in the attraction to make them more modern and represent more recent parts of history. We’ll also get to see a Walt Disney animatronic introduce the attraction in the new version.

Carousel of Progress

We know the attraction is set to open sometime in 2027, but no official date has been set.

Big Top Souvenirs

Disney temporarily closed Big Top Souvenirs, the merchandise location inside this area of the park. There’s no reopening date in sight, only that it’ll “reopen for guests later this year.”

The tent is back!

Previously, they had completely taken apart the tent for structural repairs on the building, but most recently, we saw that the big top is back! During the closure, you can find similar souvenirs at The Emporium and snacks at The Confectionery on Main Street.

Liberty Square Riverboat, Tom Sawyer Island, and the Rivers of America

The Rivers of America, including the Liberty Square Riverboat and Tom Sawyer Island, permanently closed on July 7th, 2025. Most recently, we noticed a new shed-like building on the property, close to where the boat dock by Memento Mori used to be.

There’s a new structure!

This area is closing to make way for the new Cars area, called Piston Peak. This will replace the Rivers of America and will feature two brand-new attractions. Disney has not yet released an opening date for this new area.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Vacation Fun

Disney just announced that Vacation Fun will close for refurbishment on Sunday, August 9th. As of right now, there’s been no reopening date announced, but we do know it’s the Annual Passholder magnet distribution center until September 24th, so our assumption is that it’ll reopen after that fact.

Vacation Fun

This is the second time this attraction will have closed this year. The previous closure was for a May the 4th pop-up event, but it’s not clear what this second closure is for.

Animation Courtyard (well, parts of it)

Animation Courtyard closed on September 25th, 2025. This included Star Wars Launch Bay, the Disney Jr. Play and Dance! show and the character meet-and-greets. The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure and Walt Disney Presents remained open, but as of May 26th, the new land here, The Walt Disney Studios, has begun its phased opening!

Sofia the First!

The rest of the land will be opening on September 14th. That will include The Magic of Disney Animation, where animated characters will “come to life.” You will be able to watch portraits interact, see a short film, and even learn to draw Disney character sketches. There will also be a new Drawn to Wonderland playground area, and yes, the iconic Mickey Sorcerer Hat is back as well! You can already experience the new Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live! show, as well as meet and greets with Sofia the First and SuperKitties, and see other characters roaming around the area.

Muppets Courtyard

As of June 8th, 2025, the Muppets Courtyard is blocked by construction walls, and both Muppet*Vision 3D and PizzeRizzo are closed forever. Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano closed for good on May 11th, 2025. We recently got to hear more about the story of Monstropolis and how humans are able to step inside for the first time for H.U.M.A.N. Day.

We also know officially that Harryhausen’s will be part of the new land as one of the dining locations, and we’re beyond excited to see it come alive right before our eyes. Most recently, we spotted teeth added on the outside of what was formerly the bathroom near PizzeRizzo, meaning details are slowly but surely being added to the new land.

EPCOT

La Signature

La Signature is located in EPCOT’s France Pavilion and closed for refurbishment on June 29th. At this time, there is no set reopening date.

La Signature is closed!

This spot is known for selling 70 different French cosmetics and fragrances from Guerlain, as well as offering makeup consultations. During its closure, you can head over to Plume Et Palette to find select Guerlain merchandise.

Sections of the Germany Pavilion

Back on July 13th, Disney closed the majority of the Volkskunst shop to fix the Cast Member bathrooms behind the scenes, and ALSO closed the public bathrooms in the pavilion. As mentioned previously, the roof of Das Kaufhaus is also currently under refurbishment, though no stores are closed due to the work.

Totally closed off

Disney hasn’t announced when the shop or the bathrooms will be reopening, but we’ll be keeping a close eye out.

We Have Been Waiting for This EPCOT Change, and Now It’s Here!

Disney’s Animal Kingdom

DinoLand U.S.A.

As of February 2nd, DinoLand U.S.A. is officially closed to make way for the new Tropical Americas land coming to the park. It’ll feature three new rides, a quick-service dining location, a beautiful fountain in the center of the land, and so much more.

Most recently, we got a look at what the new entrance to the land will look like, which is super exciting! There’s also been a new permit update for the new Indiana Jones ride, extending one of the original permits to April 2027.

Doesn’t it look familar?

It’s looking like it’s coming along well, and we can’t wait to see more updates soon!

Disney World Hotels

Convention Center and El Centro Corridor — Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort

Beginning on August 10th, 2026, the Convention Center at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort will be undergoing a refurbishment through September 2027.

Coronado Springs

Additionally, the El Centro Corridor and surrounding areas will also undergo a refurbishment tied to this work. While it’ll be completed in phases, some areas of the hotel may be unavailable at times due to the construction.

Boat Dock — Disney’s Old Key West Resort

The Sassagoula River Cruise boat dock closed on July 20th for refurbishment. Currently, it’s expected that it’ll reopen in early August.

Boats are unavailable

This means you’ll need to take a Disney bus to and from the resort, or drive your own vehicle.

Boat Dock — Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

Construction on the boat dock as a whole was originally expected to last through the end of June, but has now continued into July.

Boat dock restoration in progress!

Guest transportation is still fully available, so there’s no need to worry about needing to find an alternate mode of transportation.

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa

Construction at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort, specifically on the porte cochere, will now continue through at least early 2027.

Grand Floridian Resort

That’s not ideal for anyone staying at any Disney World resort, but this one is especially an issue since it’s one of the resort’s most expensive hotels.

Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort

Work is currently taking place all over Bay Lake Tower through late 2027, including exterior elevator landing repairs that will be taking place through late May 2026.

Bay Lake Tower Villa

If you’re staying here soon, expect to see and hear construction throughout your stay.

Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort

Dining location closures will be taking place at the hotel for the majority of the rest of the year. The Turf Club Lounge will close for refurbishment in early April and will reopen in early August. While that closure is happening, the Turf Club Bar & Grill will remain open with a pop-up bar serving a modified Lounge food and beverage menu.

Turf Club

Following that, the Turf Club Patio will close from early to mid-August, and then from mid-August through mid-September, the Turf Club Bar & Grill will be closed for refurbishment.

Yachtsman Steakhouse – Disney’s Yacht Club Resort

On May 11th (yes, a lot happened this day), Yachtsman Steakhouse closed for refurbishment. This means that currently, the only way to get items from the menu is to head over to the newly reopened Crew’s Cup Lounge next door.

Yachtsman Steakhouse

We just found out that this restaurant will officially open on August 28th, and you can begin making reservations now!

Leisure Pools — Disney’s Yacht Club Resort and Disney’s Beach Club Resort

Disney’s Yacht Club and Beach Club Resorts are undergoing visible exterior maintenance, which has also led to the closure of some of the resorts’ leisure pools.

Yacht and Beach Club Resorts on Crescent Lake

At Disney’s Yacht Club, the Admiral leisure pool will be closed for maintenance through early May 2026. At Disney’s Beach Club, the Tidal leisure pool will be closed through early May for refurbishment. Guests may also hear or see work during the daytime until the refurbishment is complete.

Promenade Fine Art Gallery — Disney’s BoardWalk

The Village Green area of Disney’s BoardWalk Inn, often used for Movies Under The Stars, yoga, arts and crafts classes, and more, will be closed from August 10th through September 4th.

The Promenade Fine Art Gallery, located on Disney’s BoardWalk, will be moving. The BoardWalk store has been closed since October 20th, 2025.

Promenade Art Gallery

The good news is that the gallery isn’t permanently closing; it’s just moving locations. We don’t know yet where the art gallery will be moving to, but we will keep you updated as we learn more! Most recently, we found out that a new Basin store is on its way to the BoardWalk, and based on concept art and the buildings we know to be empty in the area, there’s a strong chance this is where the new store is going!

Jellyrolls — Disney’s BoardWalk

The popular dueling piano bar, Jellyrolls, closed for good at Disney’s BoardWalk on April 19th, 2025. It’ll be moving to a new location about 10 minutes away and will reopen in late summer or fall of 2026

Note how empty the interior seems.

Construction has been happening around the building for a bit now, and now we know that, based on concept art, it’s very likely this will be the new home of the new lounge Hurly-Burly coming to the BoardWalk!
