A popular Magic Kingdom store is now closed with no reopening date in sight!
Big Top Souvenirs in the Storybook Circus area of Fantasyland closed on Friday, February 20th, and won’t reopen until later this year.
The store is closing for extensive refurbishment of the tent’s structure. We stopped by to find that the entire left half of Storybook Circus covered in construction walls!
The walkway in front of Big Top Souvenirs is covered as well. It looks like they’ll redo the entrance in addition to the tent’s structure!
During the closure, you can find similar Disney merchandise available at The Emporium on Main Street, U.S.A.
We love Big Top Souvenirs for their bakery, Big Top Treats. We’ll always get their fudge when we’re at Storybook Circus. They also sell slushies, cookies, cupcakes, and other candies!
They sell the same sweets at Main Street Confectionery, but the line there is typically much longer. Big Top Souvenirs’ closing makes the Confectionery the only bakery case in Magic Kingdom. Plan for a long line if you’re going – or use Mobile Order!
This isn’t the only closure to Storybook Circus – Pete’s Silly Sideshow closed suddenly on January 4th when the tent needed repairs. You used to be able to meet Minnie, Goofy, Donald, and Daisy there, but their meet and greets have been moved during the refurbishment.
Now, you can meet the characters outside around Storybook Circus, but this doesn’t have any set times on the app. You’ll have to spend some time waiting in the area for them, just in case! We met Minnie and Goofy at the entrance to Storybook Circus.
We found Donald and Daisy in the back of the area, between the restrooms and the train station. Their line was much shorter since it was pretty hidden!
Disney hasn’t announced when exactly these spots will reopen – Big Top Souvenirs has a vague timeline of “later this year,” while Pete’s Silly Sideshow currently has no reopening time at all. Storybook Circus will look very different for the next few months! Stay tuned to AllEars for more Magic Kingdom updates.
