We Have a Construction UPDATE at Magic Kingdom

Now that we’re around halfway through the year, we’ve seen a lot of construction at Disney World wrap up, with new attractions opening. However, there is still a LOT of work being done around the resort!

Magic Kingdom

We’re still a ways away from seeing the massive expansions at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Magic Kingdom. We’ve been checking in on the construction progress often, and thanks to @bioreconstruct, we have some brand-new looks at the work on Piston Peak!

Magic Kingdom will eventually have two new lands, which include Villains Land and Piston Peak. We haven’t seen or heard much on Villains Land, but the construction on Piston Peak has been moving quickly.

Thanks to photos posted by @bioreconstruct on X, we got an aerial look at the progress that’s being made. You can see that sand has been filled and graded between the retaining wall and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. As well as sand fill in progress near Liberty Square. It was also noted by @bioreconstruct that a clearing near the Haunted Mansion seems to have plants for erosion control.

Here’s another look, where we can see utility work is in progress. Sand is being filled between the retaining wall and walkways in Frontierland and Liberty Square. Getting an angle like this, it’s super exciting to see how much area this new land will cover.

If you want to check out the construction for yourself, riding on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad gives you a great vantage point to see into the area behind the walls. It’s like a little behind-the-scenes peek every time you’re in line or on the Wildest Ride in the Wilderness!

We don’t have a ton of information on the new Cars-themed land, but we know that one of the attractions featured will be an off-road style ride similar to Radiator Springs Racers at Disney California Adventure. Although it will be very different from that attraction, it will be completely unique. We also know the land will be themed like a national park for cars, and will be run by a new character, Ranger J. Autobahn Woodlore.  At the time of writing, there is no opening timeline for the new land, but we’re hoping we get one at D23 in August!
