REVIEW: This Is the Best $7 We Spent in EPCOT This Week

Disney World is well known for the wide and varied selection of snacks available across the property, especially at EPCOT.

Disney World’s second gate is home to some of the resort’s most unique snack offerings, thanks to the international food spread around the park’s World Showcase. Recently, we took a visit to one of our favorite spots — Les Halles Boulangerie-Patisserie — to sample something that sounded seriously delicious on paper.

Located in the park’s France Pavilion, Les Halles Boulangerie-Patisserie is a traditional French bakery.

The eatery offers a full menu, including soups and salads, fresh baguette sandwiches, and pastries, as well as wine, champagne, beer, and gourmet coffees.

On our most recent sojourn to Les Halles, we tried the Citron, a $7.95 pastry with fresh blueberries and lemon cream. This Citron seems to be a bit of a hidden gem, as it was on the restaurant’s menu but unavailable on the app.

The flaky puff pastry had a base of lemon cream in the middle, with blueberries piled on top of it. This combination gave the pastry a very, very tart flavor profile at its center. However, the outside of the Citron had a powdered sugar topping on it. This pastry crust neutralized the tartness, whenever we had a bite that combined it with the lemon base and the blueberries.

That actually led to our biggest issue with the pastry. We found ourselves wishing that the tart interior spread had been a bit more spread out instead of sitting in the middle of the pastry. In addition, the mixture of the blueberries made the pastry just a wee bit messy to eat.

That being said, we’d definitely try the Citron again and would recommend it to anyone who’s a fan of tartness in their pastries! It was something different and delicious, and we were seriously impressed!!
