We Have a HUGE Disney Cruise Line Update

Forget the Disney Adventure (ok, not actually because we love that ship), but let’s talk about a NEW Disney Cruise Ship that we just got huge news on!

Okay, yes, the Disney Adventure is a brand-new Disney Cruise ship, but it’s not our fault that we’re getting news about another new cruise. The Oriental Land Company has officially released a statement about their upcoming partnership with Disney Cruise Line, which includes the first-ever Disney cruise ship coming to Japan!

Can we just say that it is wild that the Disney Adventure just set sail for the first time in Singapore, and we’re already talking about a new Disney ship?

A couple of years ago, in 2024, Disney announced that they were partnering with the Oriental Land Company to create a new ship with sailings in Japan! Details surrounding the ship were slim to none as it was still very early, but there was speculation that the ship would launch in 2029.

Well, more news was shared recently that the Oriental Land Company made a release outlining the official creation of the cruise portion of their company, called the ORIENTAL LAND CRUISE CO., LTD.

Disney and the Oriental Land Company have been working together for over 40 years. The company owns and operates the Tokyo Disney Resort. Now, the partnership will go beyond the parks and onto the sea.

The release from the Oriental Land Company doesn’t say much, but it does give us a few more details about the timing of when we might get to experience this new ship. The release notes stated that “the Company is working to launch Disney cruise services in the Japanese fiscal year 2028.” That would be a year earlier than we expected!

Something else to pay attention to is that it notes the tentative date of establishment for this new subsidiary will be April 3rd, and that construction will begin in the second half of 2026! On top of that, it also confirms that the new ship will be based on the already existing Disney Wish and that the new venture “will introduce a new type of experience, family entertainment cruises, to the Japanese cruise market.”
