This Is the Worst Disney World Hotel Review We’ve Ever Seen

Disney World is home to some incredible hotels, but not every hotel is the perfect fit for every traveler.

BoardWalk

Some Disney World resorts are extravagantly themed, while others are just straight-up extravagant. Depending on what it is you’re looking for, you might find that the perfect hotel for you is a little off the beaten path. However, sometimes you end up not loving the hotel you chose — and that seems to be the case with the worst Disney World hotel reviews we’ve ever seen.

Did you know that here on AllEars, we’ve got a HUGE database of reviews for all kinds of Disney World things? It’s true, and that’s where we’re headed today. Over on the AllEars review page for Disney World hotels, we stumbled upon a couple of different reviews for Disney’s BoardWalk Inn and Villas, and we think we may need to head to the ER after these burns!

Disney’s BoardWalk Inn

Disney’s BoardWalk Inn and Villas Resort is a Deluxe, Disney Vacation Club (DVC) resort located on Disney’s Boardwalk — an Atlantic City-style boardwalk with several restaurants, lounges, and entertainment locations.

BoardWalk is located in the EPCOT resort area, just across Crescent Lake from Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts and near the Dolphin and Swan hotels. You can walk to Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios from the BoardWalk.

It’s a popular hotel for many, but a few of our readers didn’t have such a pleasant experience on their most recent stays.

BoardWalk Lobby

One reader, who goes by sreynold5 on the site, recently stayed at the BoardWalk for the second time since their first time was so lovely. But unfortunately, this second time was not as great. They didn’t enjoy having to “take 2 elevators and a staircase to get out to the Boardwalk Bakery/drink refill station” and said that other than the beds and pull-out sofa, there was nowhere to sit in their room and no tables.

Sreynolds5 also said, “I know that Disney now calls their mini fridges ‘beverage coolers,’ but they should call them ‘barely coolers.'” It’s clear that this person no longer believes the BoardWalk is the right hotel for them based on the review below.

Another review is just as scathing, if not more, left by an anonymous reviewer. This three-out-of-ten-star review says that “the cons absolutely outweigh the pros, especially when you factor in how exorbitantly expensive this place is” and that they “encountered one genuinely polite Cast Member.”

This reviewer thought that the food served at the BoardWalk restaurants was “worse than the food inside the parks.” Of course, we’re not quite sure where they dined, but that’s a pretty bold statement either way! But the real kicker is in the “Cons” section of the review, which says, “This hotel is just a gussied-up Hampton Inn.”

Those are some harsh words! The BoardWalk hotel is a beautiful place that’s loved by many (including us!), but this just goes to show that not every Disney World hotel is right for everyone, and that your experiences may vary.

  1. These just sound like reviews for people not familiar enough with the Boardwalk resort.
    It is massive.
As a huge Epcot fan, I would not want a room closest to Hollywood Studios, but I may not have a choice. As someone who usually has a rental car, the parking lot can also be very far from your room, especially if you have to park across the road in the far lot.
Luckily, we are Beach Club DVC and while the theming is a little ‘meh’ for me, the location is awesome. Beach Club also now has those laminate floors. Pack some slippers if they bother you… they don’t bother me. Seems easier to keep clean than a carpet.
And running into only one polite cast member? Sounds like a him problem. I’ve had to “complain” about things many times over the years… If you start with a smile and respect, cast members will do everything in their power to help you.

I’ll be back at Beach Club in 16 days. Woooooo…. see ya’ll there!

  2. The reviews are dated over a year ago. The walk can be long to the drink station. I totally agree with that, however, all the other issues could be resolved by speaking with cast members/managers. We stayed in Boardwalk last month for the second time and loved it.

  3. Regarding the Boardwalk comments- I also stayed in a ground floor garden view room at the Boardwalk and literally had to take two elevators to get from the ground floor in front of the building to my room. Only stayed there because it was a last minute trip and the Beach Club was full.

    1. The Beach Club is very awesome isn’t it. Two wonderful words always come to mind- Stormalong Bay..Have a most wonderful day!

  4. Wow! Much hate on Disney hotels and cast members! First of all, in one of the reviews someone mentioned about being close to the elevators. Well, heads up, you can always call the Disney number and the many friendly and oh so wonderful staff are most happy to oblige accommodating your room hotel area placements. In the past, they’ve always done it for us. As for cast members, we’ve most always encountered very wonderful ones. At multiple times, we’ve even gave them kudos to the managers for their wonderful service. To me, it must be pretty difficult sometimes to deal with the public at large who may be grumpy at times. And, also, in terms of the fridges..Disney can accommodate your needs for a fridge if you are in need of one. Happy Disneying!

    1. I also find the beverage coolers to be undersized and warm. Now, yes, you can request a mini fridge for your room “if you are in need of one,” i.e., storage of insulin and the like. When we requested a mini fridge at Coronado Springs, several hours later when returning to our room, we found a rather old, noisy mini fridge dumped pretty much at the foot of our bed and plugged in. Apparently, they felt that there was no other place to put it really and that’s where they left it.

      .

    2. Also as far as special room requests, it’s hit or miss and nothing (NOTHING) is guaranteed. I can’t tell you how many times we’ve been told “I’m sorry, we are totally full and there’s nothing else available,” which frequently did not appear to be the case based on bus and transportation loads or food court crowds we observed.

  5. WDW is now a terrible place full of greed. Zero value and rely on people’s nostalgia to charge ridiculous prices to go on rides that barely would pass for a carnival. Take away nostalgia and pirates, Peter Pan, Winnie the Pooh, haunted mansion and little mermaid rides are literally just slow moving track rides that no one would care about unless you have some weird childhood fetish. Let it go (Elsa’s words not mine). Unless y’all like spending 80 dollars on sub McDonald’s quality food and 140 bucks to have the ‘privilege’ to than drop another 100 plus to do more than 3 rides in 9 hours. Walt has been dead for 50 years and nothing he stood for is current with todays conglomerate overlords.
