REVIEW: Disney’s NEW Moana Restaurant Is Like Chipotle, But Dare We Say… BETTER?!

We’re officially on Disney’s newest cruise ship, the Disney Adventure, and we’re doing everything that the ship has to offer! That includes eating at over 20 restaurants — a task we’re committed to.

Gramma Tala’s Kitchen is a new restaurant exclusively on the Disney Adventure, located at the Disney Imagination Garden. This restaurant offers a Pacific and Asian-style menu and is themed after Gramma Tala from Moana. Who’s ready to eat?!

The Disney Imagination Garden is an open‑air courtyard with a Garden Stage, where large‑scale performances, character moments, and celebratory events will take place during the day and the evening. This themed area is where you’ll also find Gramma Tala’s Kitchen.

The restaurant is included in the cruise’s free dining! You will need a reservation to get in, though, which we booked in the Navigator app. The restaurant had some awesome Moana details like this mural!

The menu is almost exclusively create-your-own bowls, similar to Chipotle, but with an Asian twist. Start with a base of chicken rice or coconut rice, then top with proteins including Hainanese chicken, Huli-Huli BBQ chicken, or Black Pepper beef.

For less adventurous eaters, they also serve buttermilk fried chicken, chicken tenders, and French fries.

We ordered the chicken rice paired with black pepper beef, then sides of garlic broccoli, soy-glazed yams, and braised tofu. The chicken rice had a strong chicken taste that we loved! The beef was soft and tender with a great pepper flavor.

The garlic broccoli was decent, but it could have used a bit more garlic flavor in our opinion. We LOVED the soy-glazed yams, though. They were sweet and salty, and cooked perfectly — not too mushy, but not too firm either.
