When we’re sent a scathing review about a popular Disney World restaurant, trust us, we notice.

Jungle Navigation Co., Ltd. Skipper Canteen is a fun table-service restaurant in Magic Kingdom that serves up tasty Asian, South American, and African cuisine in a whimsical environment based on the world-famous Jungle Cruise ride. On the AllEars reviews page, it currently holds an 81% recommended rate from reviewers, but one of the most recent reviews indicates potential problems that could see that percentage drop.
In February 2026, one AllEars user reported a negative experience at Skipper Canteen, writing:
“Ate there for lunch and the place was empty. My wife and I felt that even though the food was good the portions were small. Our waiter was funny and would stop by once in a while to see how we were doing and tell a joke. Our bill came to almost $95.00 which I thought was high for what we got. We both left there hungry and went over and got a dole whip.”
Suffice it to say, that’s not exactly an ideal review.

So there’s a bit to dissect here. Let’s start with the good.
This reviewer did mention that they enjoyed the humorous atmosphere — which is provided by witty servers and plenty of fun nods to the ride all over the restaurant. They also mentioned that the food tasted pretty good!

The problem that this person really had to deal with was small portion sizes. Depending on what you order, this is a super valid complaint. We recommend asking your server before ordering just to be sure, and checking our latest reviews for the most up-to-date pictures.
If you get something and are dissatisfied with the size, this reviewer is right: The price will only tick you off even more.

In our most recent review, we really enjoyed our experience here. We loved the bold and unique flavors, great ambience, music, and theming, and felt the service was awesome!
That said, we could also understand reasons why folks may sour on this restaurant.

This menu could be too adventurous for many, and it features bold spices and sometimes-unfamiliar ingredients — making it a somewhat intimidating dining experience. Many of our readers have also cited inconsistent food quality. They may have been excited about the offerings, but felt the food lacked in execution.

Skipper Canteen has certainly become divisive, which means your opinion means more than ever! If you’ve ever visited this restaurant (or any Disney restaurant), be sure to leave your review and let us and our readers know if it’s a place worth spending your time and money!
