An Imagineer Is Spilling the Secrets Behind Disney's Newest Ride

A Disney Cruise Line vacation is unlike any other kind of Disney vacation you might take in your lifetime. You’ve still got great food, entertainment, and dining, but it’s a much more relaxed vibe than you might find in the theme parks.

However, if you book a cruise on the Disney Adventure, which is set to make its maiden voyage on December 15th, you’ll get a little bit of that theme park feeling at Marvel Landing, which is basically a miniature version of Avengers Campus…at sea. Yes, there will be rides, including a fun Groot-themed ride. Now, a Disney Imagineer is giving us a behind-the-scenes look at that ride.

The Disney Adventure will have its own little mini theme park on board called Marvel Landing, where you’ll find three rides: a roller coaster called Ironcycle Test Run, Pym Quantum Racers, and Groot Galaxy Spin. Well, now, we know a little more about Groot Galaxy Spin, thanks to a video from Walt Disney Imagineering.

Groot Galaxy Spin will blast you into an “awesome mix of high-soaring feats and bass-boosted beats.” Imagineer Marcel has shared some behind-the-scenes details. On the ride, Rocket Racoon and Groot have taken a bunch of parts from their ship, and they’ve combined those parts to make a spinning DJ platform. The video posted includes some sketches of what the ride vehicles will look like. These are some of the first sketches of the ride.

That includes defining the aesthetic of the ride and then figuring out how to make that happen.

The first piece of concept art was about capturing the fun mood and feeling of the ride.

We also got to see a scale model of the ride vehicle. We’re getting Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind vibes.
