EPCOT is one of those parks that feels different every time you visit—but sometimes, “different” means a lot more crowded than you expect.

Between race weekends, cheer competitions, and major festivals, there are certain times in 2026 when EPCOT can feel less like a relaxing stroll around World Showcase and more like a battle for elbow room. If you’re hoping for a smooth, laid-back park day, you might want to skip these particular dates.

Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend (January 7th – January 11th, 2026)
Marathon Weekend is a huge deal at Disney World, and EPCOT is at the center of it all. Many of the races either start or end here, so you’ll see runners celebrating their accomplishments—and their medals—all weekend long. Early morning road closures can also affect park access, and by midday, EPCOT fills with racers and families ready to enjoy the park after their big runs. It’s an exciting atmosphere, but definitely not a low-crowd one.

Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend (February 26th – March 2nd, 2026)
EPCOT is once again a key location for this popular runDisney event. The park tends to get very busy during and after the races, and the whole weekend has a celebratory energy that brings in big crowds. If you’re planning to enjoy the Flower and Garden Festival (which is usually underway by this point), expect to share it with plenty of other guests doing the same. Lines for festival food booths can stretch far longer than usual during this weekend.

Springtime Surprise Weekend (April 16th – 19th, 2026)
This runDisney event is the newest of the bunch, and it’s quickly gained popularity. The races typically involve creative themes and unique challenges, which means lots of runners and spectators make EPCOT part of their plans. Since the park is featured heavily in many of the races, it tends to be a hub of activity during this time. If you’re visiting for a more peaceful EPCOT day, this weekend is one to avoid.

Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon (Expected October 22nd – October 25th, 2026)
Wine & Dine Weekend is basically the EPCOT event of the year for runDisney fans. The races tie directly into the EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival, and the combination of runners and festival guests creates one of the busiest weekends on the park’s calendar. You’ll find extra-long food booth lines, crowded walkways around World Showcase, and limited availability at popular restaurants. It’s a fun vibe—but not an easygoing one.

Cheerleading Worlds & Junior World Cheerleading Championships (April 22nd – April 27th, 2026)
While these competitions happen over at ESPN Wide World of Sports, EPCOT still feels the ripple effects. Large groups of cheerleaders and their families often choose to celebrate their off-hours at EPCOT, especially with so many dining and entertainment options. This can lead to noticeable spikes in crowd levels, especially in the evenings when the competitions wrap up.

The Summit Championship (April 30th – May 3rd, 2026)
Just as the Worlds crowds start to taper off, another cheerleading competition begins. The Summit brings another surge of visitors, many of whom head straight to EPCOT after their events. Expect busier-than-usual queues for attractions like Test Track and Soarin’, and more congestion near the dining areas of World Showcase.

The D2 Summit (May 8th – May 10th, 2026)
By early May, the cheerleading events are still going strong, and EPCOT remains a top spot for teams and families to unwind. These large group visits make the park feel busier, particularly at the front half of the day and during evening fireworks. It’s not an impossible time to visit—but you’ll definitely feel the difference compared to a quieter spring weekday.

Holiday Weekends
EPCOT might not have as many special holiday events as Magic Kingdom, but the park still gets slammed during major holidays. Easter, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s all bring extra-heavy crowds. These weekends also overlap with some of EPCOT’s biggest festivals, which means the combination of locals, tourists, and festival fans can turn the park into a shoulder-to-shoulder experience.

EPCOT is one of Disney’s most beautiful parks, and it’s a must-visit for many guests—but timing is everything. Visiting during these crowded weekends can mean longer waits, less elbow room, and fewer chances to casually enjoy the atmosphere that makes EPCOT so special. If you can plan your trip around these dates, you’ll have a much better chance at that perfect EPCOT day where you can take your time and soak in the details.
