I Hate To Say It, But These 6 Disney World Restaurants Need To GO

Food at Disney World is part of the experience. No matter where or what you eat, it’s a Disney adventure. You might be trying a Mickey-shaped snack, an international cuisine, or a Disney twist on an American staple.

Halloween snacks at Casey’s Corner

While many restaurants in Disney World are great options, there are a few that get a bad wrap. We asked our readers on Facebook, “Which Disney World restaurants need to be boarded up and never eaten at again?” Here are six of the top-named restaurants that need to be closed in Disney World, per our readers.

Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn

Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn is a mediocre quick-service restaurant that needs a menu revamp, according to Brooke. Honestly, we kind of agree. It’s a great place to sit down and enjoy some food, but the food here tends to miss the mark.

Southwest Caesar Salad with Chicken

It’s not that the food is bad, per se. There are just better options in Magic Kingdom. A re-theme and menu update might be what this spot needs. Or, at least bring the old toppings bar back. That’s the biggest reason we used to LOVE Pecos Bill.

Luckily, if you’re looking for somewhere with lots of indoor seating, Pecos Bill will have you covered. But even after quite a few menu revamps, this spot just hasn’t hit the mark since Covid. We would love to see Tiana’s Palace (like the one in Disneyland) take over this spot!

Be Our Guest

Be Our Guest in Magic Kingdom is like our on-again, off-again significant other. Some days we love it, others…not so much. It also might depend on who’s telling you about it.

Steak Frites at Be Our Guest

Readers Eddie, Theresa, Brodie, and others say this place needs a major glow up. According to them, the food and experience aren’t worth the price you pay. For a little background, this restaurant takes you into the Beast’s castle. You are seated in the Grand Ballroom, The West Wing, or the Rose Gallery. Many people think the West Wing is like drawing the short end of the stick. It’s so dark, you can hardly see the plate of food in front of you. Brodie thinks the overall experience is very disappointing.

The West Wing

On the other hand, Christina and others recently had an amazing meal and experience, and she says it’s her favorite restaurant. As for us, we recently had the steak frites, and those were amazing. But that’s not always the case at Be Our Guest.

Still a good option

We think that the dinner menu has improved, and the atmosphere is AMAZING. We just think that Disney should bring back quick service breakfast and lunch.

Be Our Guest Breakfast

We loved dining here when those were offered, and it gave so many more people the opportunity to experience the castle without spending so much money.

Coral Reef

Coral Reef has long been regarded as a less-than-great restaurant. It’s mostly due to the quality of the meal, but many people have a hard time looking at all the fish while also EATING fish. I mean, we get it.

It’s really tough eating fish while also admiring the fish

Mitch, Rob, and Kathleen all agree that the food here needs to be improved. Kathleen shares, “It’s awful since they completely changed the menu.” The atmosphere is neat, honestly! You get to dine at the Seas and enjoy watching the aquarium while enjoying your meal. If the food were improved, this definitely has some potential.

The Diamond Horseshoe

Kimberly let us know that she thinks the Diamond Horseshoe needs to go. “Same food as Liberty [Tree] Tavern. Turn it into Tiana’s [Palace] and serve gumbo, Cajun, fish, fried chicken, and bananas foster,” she said.

Diamond Horseshoe!

I think she’s on to something. This would be a great restaurant to redesign into Tiana’s Palace. Very similar thoughts to what we were saying with Pecos Bill! A Cajun restaurant would be great at Magic Kingdom, especially now with Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, just like at Disneyland. We enjoy the food, but you can grab the same food at Liberty Tree Tavern. This is really just a spot you go to if you can’t get a Liberty Tree Tavern reservation but want that food!

Chef Mickey’s

It feels sacrilege to say the restaurant named Chef Mickey’s is one that needs to be removed or revamped, but it’s probably true. The food here is completely lackluster, and the whole place is very noisy. You pay way too much for a meal that’s just not great.

Readers Ingrid, Jenny, and Margot all agree that this restaurant, located at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, is a no-go. There are much better places to eat at Disney World where you can meet with Mickey and friends, such as Topolino’s Terrace at Disney’s Riviera Resort and Garden Grill at EPCOT.

We will say, this spot has food on the menu for everyone and a wide variety of characters. It is popular for a reason, we just think some improvments with the food would really help justify the hefty price tag here!

Roundup Rodeo BBQ

A lot of readers commented Roundup Rodeo in Hollywood Studios needs to be boarded up. While many think the theming and environment is cute, the food here can be hit or miss. It’s just another Disney BBQ joint with basic BBQ food.

Roundup Rodeo BBQ spread

If you or your kids love Toy Story, Roundup Rodeo might be fun to visit once. The inside is themed to Woody’s show ‘Woody’s Roundup’, which is very cute. But if you’re looking for some excellent BBQ food, this is probably not the place for you.

These are a few of the top places many of our readers think should be closed up in Disney World, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t love them. For every person who doesn’t like a restaurant, another might love it. So keep that in mind on your next vacation to Disney World!
