REVIEW: The NEW Food at This Disney World Pool Bar Had NO BUSINESS Being This Good

One of our favorite things to do during a long Disney World vacation is to take a day and chill by the pool at our resort!

Look at that gorgeous water!

And when it comes to pools, Stormalong Bay at the Yacht & Beach Club is the undisputed KING. So of course, that awesome pool has to have an equally awesome pool bar, right? We’re heading to Hurricane Hanna’s Waterside Bar & Grill to do a full review!

Background

Hurricane Hanna’s Waterside Bar & Grill is located next to Stormalong Bay, which is the large pool shared by Yacht Club and Beach Club. The bar and the pool just recently reopened after a months-long refurbishment.

Let’s go!

Right before the pool reopened, we noticed that Hurricane Hanna’s had some menu changes, so we’re here to check out a few NEW items!

Atmosphere

Hurricane Hanna’s has a great view of Crescent Lake and the EPCOT Resort area on one side, with a view of Stormalong Bay on the other!

The bar

This spot is home to a traditional bar, as well as a quick service ordering spot. It’s a fairly leveled-up pool bar in that sense.

Ordering stations

The menu includes basic American fare like burgers, chicken strips, and salads. They have a few grab-and-go options, as well as fountain drinks.

Menu

Once you’ve picked up your food, you can stop by the drink station, where they’re stocked with utensils, condiments, and your choice of basic Coca-Cola beverages.

Drinks

There’s also a small seating area to the side of the pool. This was fairly shaded, and each of the tables had an umbrella as well.

So what are we going to try?

Food & Drinks

We grabbed not one, but TWO new items today, starting with the Loaded Crab Fries for $11.79. They’re topped with crab meat, cheese curds, bacon pieces, and bisque. YUM.

Loaded Crab Fries

We thought these were an INCREDIBLE value for what you get, because there’s quite a bit of crab meat on top. It’s like if poutine and crab fries had a baby, so it’s really a seafood lover’s dream.

Look at all those toppings!

The cheese curds are nice and squeaky, and the onions add some brightness to a heavy dish. The bisque is like a tomato bisque that acts as a gravy would in a regular poutine. Overall, this was a 10/10, no notes.

A forkful

To drink, we picked up the Cold Fashioned for $18. It’s made with Woodford Reserve Kentucky Straight Bourbon, Citrus and Tea Slushy, and Angostura Bitters.

Cold Fashioned

It has a bit of acid and a bit of brine to it, but Myranda said she could’ve “chugged this one in two minutes” — it was THAT good. The unfortunate downside here is the price. It’s probably not the best value drink-wise, but with that chilled citrusy poolside vibe, it’s super fun.

Our beverage

So where does Hurricane Hanna’s land?

Magic or Tragic?

This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if…

  • You’re staying at the Yacht & Beach Club. This is a MUST if you’re going to Stormalong Bay during your visit. It’s definitely beating most other pool bars in our book.
  • You’re exploring the EPCOT Resort area. If you’re wandering around Crescent Lake and you’re interested in a quick snack and drink, this is a great spot to stop.

You should skip this Disney World spot if…

  • You want a fancier meal experience. This is pretty much just basic American fare at an outdoor pool bar.
  • You want a varied menu. See the point above. The crab fries are probably the most culinarily exciting option.
