We’ve seen lots of changes recently in Frontierland!

There’s a brand new Country Bear Jamboree show, a new ride — Tiana’s Bayou Adventure — and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is closed for an extensive overhaul. Now, there’s also a NEW lounge in Frontierland, and it’s exclusively for Disney Vacation Club members.
McKim’s Mile House is at the site of the former Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade. It opens March 18th, and Quincy got to tour the brand new lounge right before its opening.

McKim’s Mile House is open from 11 AM to 6 PM daily, and like we said it’s an exclusive spot for DVC members with Membership Magic access. You can also visit as a guest of a DVC member. DVC members get up to 4 guests OR if you’re staying in a resort room, everyone on the reservation can come inside.

Now that we’ve gotten those details out of the way, let’s get to the theming here. As you know, everything at Disney World tells a story, and that includes McKim’s Mile House. It’s a roadhouse where travelers stop to rest, and it’s run by the McKim family, of course. You can see there family quarters upstairs (you can’t go up there, though — the second floor is for “overnight guests” only).

The other “guests” staying upstairs tonight are M. Davis (Imagineer and Disney Legend Marc Davis)…

…Hoot (an animatronic owl planned for the never-built Western River Expedition ride)…

…and B.T. Bullion (a character in Big Thunder Mountain Railroad).

In addition to AIR CONDITIONING, you’ll find plenty of comfy seats at this roadhouse.

There are places to charge your devices, WiFi, and Coke Freestyle and coffee machines.

McKim’s Mile House is named for former Imagineer and Disney Legend Sam McKim. He is famous for creating the Disneyland souvenir maps sold in the 1950s and 60s that are still highly sought after by collectors today. He worked on the Hall of Presidents and Universe of Energy in Disney World, as well as creating some of the concept art for Frontierland.

Quincy said if you’re eligible to visit this NEW lounge in Disney World, you definitely should. “It’s cozy as all get out and feels like the perfect escape from the crowds,” she said.

Another lounge will be opening in Magic Kingdom soon, and it’s Pirates of the Caribbean-themed! Keep following AllEars for lots more!
