We’re gearing up for some massive construction at Disney World. From the Cars-inspired expansion of Frontierland (and replacement of the Rivers of America) to the building of the Magic Kingdom’s Villains Land to the closure of Muppet*Vision 3D to make room for Hollywood Studios’ new Monsters, Inc. land, the resort is currently in a massive state of flux from projects large and small.

Recently, Disney filed two new “smaller scale” permits for work on signage projects in Magic Kingdom and EPCOT.
Both of the new permits filed by Walt Disney Imagineering are for “Signage Installation” provided by the Orlando-based contractor Design Communications Limited. The attached addresses to the corresponding permits indicate that one is for signage work at Spaceship Earth while the other is for Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe in the Magic Kingdom’s Liberty Square.
For the former, it seems likely the permit is related to work on signage for the upcoming Spaceship Earth Lounge. This new “elegant” lounge promises to honor the “intertwined history of Spaceship Earth and EPCOT itself.”

According to Disney, the company’s chefs have “created delicious culinary creations to complement the elegance of this extraordinary, intimate setting.” We can’t wait to see what’s on the menu! The lounge is scheduled to open in “late spring” 2025. We’re still waiting for an exact opening date, so stay tuned for updates.

The work at Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe is slightly more mysterious. The store underwent a massive refurbishment last year, and the retail location is filled with Disney ornaments, stockings, and other holiday knickknacks. Now, the shop appears to be getting some new signage. Note that this permit could also be unrelated thematic signage — the sign could be located backstage!

Two brand new permits for signage changes at the Magic Kingdom and EPCOT have been filed, adding another small project to the ongoing list of construction and renovation happening at Disney World right now! Stay tuned to AllEars for more on these changes.
